This week’s instalment comes from Josh Ray. The versatile Liverpool-based DJ who has spun at festivals including Africa Oyé, Positive Vibration and Festival Number 6 and found gigs in places like Addis Ababa and Amsterdam.

Drawing from a wealth of music, he’s played house, disco, Afro, Latin, jazz, soul, blues, dub and electronica in support of acts including Azymuth, Scientist, Tamikrest, The Apples, Banana Hill and Clap! Clap!

Josh manages Greg Wilson’s Super Weird Substance record label and has more recently begun to explore his own edits and mash-ups with Ché Wilson (another fellow Mixtape Allstar – check out Mixtape #13) and a cohort of like-minded DJs/musicians in the Fire House collective, whilst also forming the dub wise Super Weird System alongside legendary Ruthless Rap Assassin, Kermit Leveridge.

Alan Dixon is one half of London’s Midnight Riot and is currently a resident at Savage which combines glorious disco DJs with an army of pole dancing drag queens to create the late night, naughty party of Bethnal Green, housed at former strip club, Metropolis. Currently residents include Hifi Sean, Jonjo Jury, Luke Solomon, Guy Williams and Alan Dixon with regular guest appearances from the likes of Heidi, Artwork, 2 Bears, Benji B, Erol Alkan, Smokin' Jo and Krankbrother. 

Midnight Riot are renowned UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Williams (Yam Who?) & Alan Dixon whose passion for innovation has driven the Riot labels success over the past five years.

Midnight Riot have gone from strength to strength with their chart-topping compilation series and the critically acclaimed album from Detroit’s Amp Fiddler in 2016.
