Following the release of 'Asmaa' from Leese last May, Lisbon-based record label Discos Extendes line up their next dispatch 'Paranoico' from label boss and producer Diogo...Our pick is Mandacaru‘s remix of ‘Bateu Bué‘, a weightless jungle reverie for shapeshifters adrift in zero gravity. Subaquatic echoes bleed into shimmering break patterns, while crystalline piano motifs hover like half-remembered dream fragments. The track opens with disorienting underwater echoes intertwined with a shimmering pulse of jungle workout and celestial piano chords. As it unfolds, Mandacaru unveils an intricate web of crisp percussion and vaporous vocals, gradually spiralling into a moment of hallucinatory resonance, a kind of astral jungle where physical weight dissolves.

The US born, Berlin based producer and deejay offers up Cut The Breaks, a 5 track EP bursting at the seams with ruff, tuff and techy freakouts, never neglecting the groove. Transcending genre, the low key king of the underground reaches into new realms sprinkling in electro, tech house and bouncy techno with a nod and a wink to hip hop. 

Sleek & sexy; the opening title track is as fresh as it gets, a soldering of prize elements from different electronic ecosystems. Whiplash drums and vocal chops that weave their way through the record, also cropping and popping up on the B Side. Superstar Silvestre strikes strong on Studio Barnhus, bringing moronic dance music and stupendously haunting ambient ditties to the forefront once again, following his highly reputable "It's 2024!!" EP, released last year. Now he steps up with his latest project ‘Fantasma’. 

On his most expansive and accomplished work yet, tensions between Silvestre’s many expressions – bass-faced rave maker, hazy lo-fi crooner, absurdist beat poet, etc. – reach catastrophic levels, resulting in an album that shimmers and convulses with both inviting warmth and that rare, essential hint of danger at the core of club music's spirit. 

There's just never a dull moment with this Silvestre guy, whether he's out blessing club crowds with electroid techno sets or effortlessly delivering instant classic albums like this one.

Sakura Tsuruta is a Tokyo-based artist who mixes up dreamy melodies with potent, experimental grooves. Her 2019 debut on Bardo Records broke into Beatport’s Top 100, and since then, she has dropped her acclaimed ‘Made of Air’ EP and two well-received full-lengths on Mule Musiq and all my thoughts. Tsuruta is also an educator who works with international universities and conservatories and an activist who champions gender equality and nurtures young artists globally.
