"What Came First" is a new label dedicated to Electronic music which has been set up by the people behind Egg London club venue.

With the dance floor in mind, WCF aims to introduce rising new talents as well as working with established artists across a range of musical genres from techno to house and chill-out to alternative. 

It is a great time for Egg London to look how far we have come musically over the years and for the label artists, inspired by the unique energy of the club, to synthetize this vibe into their productions and music that we all can enjoy.

What Came First is a label presented by the team behind leading UK venue Egg London, and celebrating its twelfth release, this is a special birthday EP from Techno legend The Advent with a remix from Egbert.

Opening with “Valiant Keys” its vocal phrase loops short sections to build tension until it opens up with tender bursts of clarity. Layered over a pounding kick drum with rattling synths and eruptions of white noise, the rolling groove of this hands in the air slice of Techno is perfect for the dancefloor.

Track two “Exchange” starts with the flicker of mechanical hi-hats and stabbing synths that blended with the twisted melody, fuse to form a groove that’s packed with forward momentum. Growing with intensity as the track develops, each bass drop is bigger than the one before, as it swells with thrilling suspense.

The third track on the release is Egbert’s remix of “Valiant Keys” which is fast and furious, lead forward by a thumping kick drum. Allowing the original's vocal to be the main focus, Egbert adds his own sinister lead synth and uplifting pads that combine to make an eerie atmosphere full of gripping anticipation.

Pig & Dan’s trend setting label Elevate signs contemporary talent Joran Van Pol for its next EP.

After letting Dubfire and Richie Hawtin fight it out to sign his first release, Joran van Pol has climbed to the very top of the techno tree. The Dutchman is now a mainstay at vital festivals from Awakenings to Tomorrowland and runs his own FADE label. His cinematic Techno sound is perfect for big rooms, and that is played out across three
brilliant new tracks on Elevate.

First up is ‘Outsider’, a brilliantly taught and tense roller with piston like drums and hits that are made for marching to. Rumbling bass speaks of a dystopian wasteland and searching synths survey the horizon in menacing fashion as the tension continues to build.
Also keeping you locked throughout is ‘Captured’, an eerie track with hypnotic drums and unsettling sirens that rise up and down and make for haunting listening. It’s a real mind melter.

Last but not least, the masterful ’Remember’ is built on rubbery, ticking and minimal drums with skittish claps and icy hi-hats all peeling off the groove as dark vocals dip in and out. It’s economical but efficient techno that is hugely evocative.

Once again here van Pol asserts himself as one of techno’s key players with a trio of terrific tracks.

Our latest release on what Came First has been produced by Italy's newest export, Knowhat, who has delivered two original works blended with shades of uplifting house and tech house rhythms.

The original track 'Feel it' is a high-spirited, house-infused creation with soulful vocals and punchy drums, showcasing the artist's ability to shy away from the driving tech house sound he's usually known for.

'Make My Body Groove' is a sultry, alluring piece with infectious, groove-tinged percussion. Suitable to captivate any dancefloor worth its salt from the beginning to end.

Frankfurt based producer Basti Grub is also featured on the EP, re-working the title track. Having touched it down with a minimal techno bass-line, Grub has artfully kept the male vocal hook rolling throughout the mix.

'Wavetable' opens the three track EP, a combination of ethereal synths and
undulating baselines form the basis of this melodic production before an unusual hook adds another dimension to the track. An oscillating filter peters in and out, adding a summery feel to this mesmerizing production, instantly taking the track up a notch to an almost spiritual rhythm.

'You Called' is a blend of dreamy synth work and tight drums. With a twist of
melancholia, it's on par for a set of a certain style - think outdoors, beneath the sunshine - with a slow-burning pace that still manages to captivate the listener from the get-go.

Guido's Schneider's remix of 'Wavetable' is also featured on the EP; a solid 90s influenced mix that's suitable to warm up a chilled out dancefloor. A more
upbeat take on Kyle's original mix, it's the perfect finish to a pulsating EP from the London based producer.
