Having previously featured a number of downloads from Cubenx, we've come to greatly appreciate the Mexican producer for his creative and minimal style that is moody yet sombre, and full of emotional tension. Another XLR8R favorite and long-time download contributor is the highly-regarded German producer Phon.o, whose most recent efforts on 50 Weapons, Bpitch Control and Tectonic continue to gain steam and collide with dancefloors far and wide.

We posted a Cubenx remix of the Phon.o track "Whistleblower" back in June of 2014, and XLR8R felt it was only appropriate that we jump at the opportunity to present a Phon.o remix of the Cubenx track "Blindfold (featuring Yasmine Hamdan)" from his most recent remix EP, Our Fire Remixes. Grounded with a beclouding bassline, whirling synths, and a hard-working rhythm that keeps you on your toes, the track swings wildly as the chopped vocals from Hamdan throw in a pensive and admirable UK Garage element.

Techno two-piece Slam (Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle) bring the new double vinyl album Machine Cut Noise to the forefront next month Stuart and Orde's day-to-day proceedings consist of maximum time spent on the road, in airports and hotels; which also forms the creative hub for their music-making. It's this transitory state that largely dominates the vibe on Machine Cut Noise.

With each of the album's eleven tracks handed its own unique energy, this concept is probably depicted most prevalently in "Psalm". There is a deep emotional core found within this programmed 7.5-minute piece. It conjures a direction that 'has been paved by the machines which surround us'. A technophile's voyage into the unknown we strongly recommend getting on board with.

Machine Cut Noise comes out on 28th October on Slam's own Soma Records.
