Having shared the decks with everyone from Cubicolor to Martin Roth, and having a debut EP on Bedrock earlier this year, Canada’s juSt b is swiftly becoming a name too hard to ignore. Her debut release on Balance delivers an exceptionally cerebral track that will sit flush in many sets. Also featured are four delicious remixes that take in everything from deep techno, to breaks and more…

The deep beat on ‘Light Sweeper’ is undeniable with its mysterious energy. Glacial synths sweep the top end while being punctured by pondering piano stabs. There is bipolar nature to the production: warm and enveloping in the lows yet cold and wintry in the highs. It’s a steady rhythm intent on intoxicating you.

The Audioglider remix reconstitutes the original into a thick, almost Amen breaks-like direction. The synths are blown up to an optimal size and layered into a melodic sequence, keeping the original mystery. The breakdown is progressive house bliss, melancholy without being saccharine, before crashing back into the rhythm with added vocal by juSt b and soaring strings.

James Welsh’s deep techno take is filled with percolating percussive hits and melodic arps weaving in and out of each other with total abandon. Featuring a considerably bigger kick, this is one to kickstart the main room.

The Mattr remix starts off minimal with a deep meta-physical engine, a hulking rhythm that slowly moves forward. Two separate breakdowns introduce a rising melody soaked in emotion, and the latter explodes into a 4/4 pattern that will sound divine on a dusty festival dancefloor.

If you’re after the perfect opening track, look no further than the elegant remix from ev3rsun. With its delightful opening 2 minute sequence, it is one part ambient and one part secret-waiting-to-be-told. It breaks into a gentle rhythm that sets the mood for what’s to follow.

An artist with a rich musical history, Michael Ritter returns to his Grey Bar Hotel imprint with the 4-track "Yawa Raf" EP.

An accomplished musician and celebrated DJ, Michael Ritter finds himself at the vanguard of the Progressive House and Melodic Techno scene. A regular performer around the clubs of his
Berlin home since the age of 15, a period spent as a student in Barcelona saw a residency at the "Ethniko" beach club. Translating meticulously crafted sets and impressive track selection into virtuoso production technique, Ritter's debut for Price Incorrect in early 2019 quickly led to music signed for the likes of Stellar Black, YOMO Records and Polyptych. Moreover, "Le Chat
Bleu" for Particles was another notable highlight in June 2021.

Returning to his immaculately curated, Grey Bar Hotel, the title track is an elegantly imaginedpiece that builds in easy fashion as deep kick and rolling percussive groove vie with sparkling,
discordant motifs, that modulate to produce a subtly detuned soundscape. A simple bassline groove provides low end gravitas while a filtered vocal phrase waxes and wanes with
intermittent ease, repeating a mantra that provides a play on words for the "Yawa Raf" title.
"Barfuss" continues with a deep penetrating kick while ticking hats and fizzing percussion add dancefloor urgency. A gently pulsating bassline adds weight while a hypnotic motif repeats across the mid-range, infused intermittently with white noise. Evolving over its 7-minute timeframe a delicate piano sequence emerges at the mid-point, full of melancholy tenderness as it reveals itself fully at the stripped back, 'barefoot' breakdown. Hitting its stride once more in the second half, rhythm and melody combine once more in impressive fashion.

The latest release on Madloch's 3rd Avenue imprint welcomes Alan Cerra back to the label with the remixes for his previously released "Beyond Time EP". Based in Argentina, Alan first appeared on the progressive music scene in 2019 with a contribution to 3rd Avenue's popular 'We Are The Future' series. 2020 then proved to be a breakout year, with Alan showcasing his music via Antrim's Strangers Beats, Miss Monique's Siona Records, Michael A's Genesis Music and D-Formation's Beatfreak Limited. More recently Alan released music on labels such as Amitabha, Dopamine White, JOOF Aura, Mango Alley and many more.

J.P. Velardi, Waxman (CA), Manu Pavez & Secretly Famous got invited to do a remix.

Montenegro based Novak (notsoserious) makes his MNL debut with the infectious progressive house roller 'Vivid Imagination'. The newcomer made his debut in the scene only a few months ago on Future Avenue's Winter compilation and now flies completely solo for the first time.

Tagging along for the ride is his fellow countryman AudioStorm who provides a nice contrast, taking care of the sole remix on this excellent single.

Diego Miranda (CH) — Garden Of Light (Original Mix) [Suprematic]

We're welcoming back Zalvador on MNL with two peak time progressive house bombs in his trademark style. 

The Colombia based producer always gives this rather unique melancholic melodic touch to his productions, making it so that you you'll recognize his productions from a mile away.

The title track 'Sanctuary' is the perfect example of this with its intense melodies that really pull you in. On the flip side you'll find 'Labyrinth' which is more of a progressive house roller, less melodies, more groove focussed, but still that melancholic touch comes in to play as the track evolves. 

All in all just another more than excellent release by Zalvador!

The time has come, we hit exactly 20 years since the launch of Dirt Crew Recordings back in 2004. An incredible journey lays behind us with so many discovered artists and even more amazing tunes we first heard as demo and brought to life either on Wax, CD or Digital. As we never look back too much we decided to not give you another “Best of” but instead drop 15 brand new tunes by early and more recent artists that have released with us in these past years.
