My love for the piano is really about the enjoyment of playing chord patterns and phrases that are almost cliches in the music world.  These are both rhythmic and melodic patterns we hear in music that follow the circle of 4ths and 5ths.  Western music is built on the foundation of repeated patterns that spiral up and down, change modality, tempo and expression, all leading up to a climatic point where we anxiously await for the great resolution in a grand Beethovenish extended coda or in a sweet and simple ballad. The satisfaction of playing and creating these "cliche" patterns and embellishments excites my senses, even the most mimimal of tones of a solo flute or guitar.  Music is a scientific phenomenon, but more than that, it is our imagination.

We Are One (2003)
Written in 1999, and produced in 2003, "We Are One" is a trance anthem that is rooted in 90s dance, trance and dream house music. "We are one" is a timeless hymn about unity and positivity. This song with a simple and catchy melody resonates both with seasoned fans and new listeners.

The original mix has been written and arranged by me. I did not have a DAW back then, so I am very lucky that Andreas F. helped me with the production, before I dived deeper into this topic.

We Are One

Through some bracket fuckery, I somehow managed to brute force my way back into the main NGADM bracket after having technically lost in round 1. Because I've been gifted a second chance, I'm pulling out all the stops and going back to a classic style of mine - big, dramatic orchestra with an east-asian flourish. Overdone? Perhaps a little, but I love how it sounds and it's fun to write.

Here's a fun piece of trivia - the solo string instrument in this song could either be a Chinese Erhu or a Japanese Kokyū depending on your imagination, as they're both bowed string instruments and sound nearly identical. In fact, "kokyū" in Japanese can actually refer to any asian bowed string instrument - so you'd technically be correct either way.
