Only some singers are capable of singing at a higher range known as "whistle register". Its a wonderful talent to bear, here we learn how to make your whistle notes sound higher and clearer studio wise!

In this audio you'll hear an unedited whistle note, a short pause, and an edited whistle note using Audacity. Some singers edit their whistle notes with auto tune, but it gives off such an unnatural sound. The steps are simple. 

First record yourself on a high quality recorder (ex. soundcloud's recorder or Hi-Q Mp3 Recorder found in app stores) once that's done, transfer the audio file to your computer and open it on Audacity. Highlight the whole audio (cut out parts if necessary) and click on effects. From there, you'll apply the following effects (in any order) to your audio (Amplify, Echo, Change Pitch). When applying amplify do not amplify it too much. You're recording's amplification will already be quiet, amplify it to a 2.1-2.5. Once you're done with that add Echo to a 0.4 delay time and a 0.1 decay factor. Echo is really important in softening the way the note sounded and taking away the slight chipmunk effect the next effect called "Change Pitch" may cause. When changing the pitch it shows the note your audio was at and gives you the option to change the note to a higher one. It'll bring up a drop down list of all musical notes (ex. A, B, C, D, C#, etc) choose which one you want, and apply it. Your whistle note will now be played at a higher note to give off that Mariah sound! And you did it all without using auto tune !

Extra tips:
-If you're a pro at whistle register and just want to make them sound clearer, the pitch change step can be omitted
-Echo and amplify are important. Amplify improves the loudness of your whistle recording, and echo softens vocals, makes your whistle sound more natural, and gives off the impression that you hit a higher note because of the echo sound.
-If you cannot hit whistle register, but only falsettos or head voice, auto tune may be needed. Audacity does not include an auto-tune effect but a GVST Auto Tune add on can be downloaded and added to Audacity. Just highlight your audio recording and click the GVST g-snap autotune addon in effects. From there you can choose how heavy you want the auto tune. Click "subtle" in the drop down list and it will add slight auto tune to areas that needed it, still keeping that natural sound. From their continue to add Amplify and Echo. Pitch Change is important to make falsettos into whistles. Click the highest note you want to change it to and apply. Wah-lah! you've officially made your note higher!

IMPORTANT: 
AMPLIFY - ONLY APPLY at 2.1-2.5
Echo - Must be set on 0.4 delay time and 0.1 decay factor. (too much echo is no good.)
Pitch: based on personal preference and how high your original note already was.
