The Robot Scientists are two German DJs, record collectors and "super selectors" Markus Schneider and Stefan Maurer, the guys behind Emerald & Doreen Records and the acclaimed SOMETHING SPÆCIAL DJ podcast series. 

They are known for their energetic DJ sets somewhere between Electronic/Space Disco, Deep Tech-House and New Wave. As kids of the 80s, you can hear the influences of that iconic decade in all their mixes and in most of the stuff they put out on their boutique label.

The highly energetic mix they made for our series features more peak time tracks, after their recent mixes for Oberwave and Hippies 2.0, which were more Dark Disco and Cosmic Balearic/Chill Out.

Dora Pan is a nice melomaniac girl from Berlin we were interested in for a while. Her sound balancing somewhere under 118 bpm and between house, disco, a bit of post-punk, but she calls it artistic: "Acid Space Rock Habibi House Techno" or short "Desert House". Well...  why not?! Her style dynamically embraces European dance music and multi-genre grooves inspired by her years in Brooklyn. Her passion for connecting with dance floors and love of intimate immersive spaces led to her co-founding of Front Left and involvement with BAE collective. Sprinkling NYC nightlife with effervescent evenings and providing a platform for female-identifying artists to craft spaces for all, it didn’t take long for Tony y Not to make a name for herself.

From parties and venues like Cityfox and Watergate to experiences like Burning Man, Tony y Not uses music as a tool to communicate what words cannot, empowering crowds to smile, look forward, and not take themselves too seriously. DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist – Johannes Klingebiel is all of these things. Being a professionally trained jazz drummer and pianist certainly helps for these activities in the same way as it’s occasionally useful to just throw all of this knowledge overboard for the sake of some stone-cold drum machine workouts. It can be both.

This unbiased approach has led Johannes to release all kinds of electronic-based music on labels like Beats In Space, Mule Musiq, Mireia, Feines Tier or his own imprint Ancient Future Now, as well as touring the globe as a drummer in bands like indie outfit Vimes or his own group, the hard-to-define Kraut-Jazz-something band C.A.R.

As a DJ Johannes unifies these various musical backgrounds in his eclectic, but never arbitrary playing style. Whether he’s playing deep disco cuts or modern House bangers, slow Techno sneakers or Krauty trip music, the lowest common denominator of his DJ sets will always be his unique sense and love of groove that magically glues everything together. In 2019 he released new solo EPs on Mireia and New York powerhouse Beats In Space by Tim Sweeney, on whose legendary radio show he also played a DJ set.

2019 brought their debut original EP on Ancient Future Now including a beautiful remix by the one and only Ada. Along with a string of EPs on Feines Tier, Clap Trap and others, 2020 will bring his debut solo album on his own label Ancient Future Now.

Speaking of Ancient Future Now, Johannes runs the label together with his buddy Jonathan Haehn, with whom he also forms the mystical DJ duo Alma & Mater. Besides churning out some original tunes here and there, they made their mark by putting out some edits that really hit the scene, first and foremost an Underworld edit, which was and is played by everyone from Âme over Axel Boman and John Talabot to Gerd Janson (he even called it one of his favourite closing tracks).
