Etbonz (aka Elliott Thomas) returns to @bed_of_roses-1 - this time with Energizer Gaze - a six-song EP beaming in from the furthest reaches of the astral plane.
Featuring a gargantuan remix from sonic titan Steve Moore, as well as remixes from Portland underground greats Grizz Thomas and Old World. The dreams are tangerine, ramping into a shimmering ecstatic current, summoning a pulsar of shredded tension - emitting a righteous blaze. The edge of the universe is a blade wielded by only those who can feel its pure love.

In the mid 90s in a small granny flat in a then rural Wicklow village a teenage producer kept himself busy making cassette tapes full of beats on his trusty s3000 sampler and an early wooden cased PC running Cubase v1. A world of music later comes this 8 track release for t-woc's home county label Remotetown. Consisting of live set extracts, MPC workouts and straight from desk to tape jams this collection of tracks are a connection to those days of constant experimentation with limited gear and endless imagination playing out like the flailing limbs seen through a strobe at a slow motion rave.

Starting the week with David Lost @davidlost with a special Valencia Sound mix for all Bakalao fans. In this case David selected rare tracks from this era and you can listen to a lot of side B from Megabeat and other producers from Valencia.
David is a key part of a scene formed in Barcelona in which it is difficult to identify his style, but it can be identified in which mixes dedicated to the Dark Wave, Post-punk and icy and industrial sounds abound. The mixing and selection capacity is of a high level, which is why it should be in the Italo Moderni Series. Time to welcome our friend David.

Where to start? The year is 1990. The locale is Italy. The European techno-trance wave is in full swing, built on the foundations of New Beat, with Frankfurt, Valencia, Goa and the Italian riviera as hotspots for this new sound created by blue-eyed producers in the four corners of the Old World.

A few producers linked to the wonderful & influential label DFC release music under the name ATAHUALPA. The influences are Latin, and Inca to be more precise. After all, Atahualpa was the last Inca emperor, executed by the Conquistadors. Weird flex ragazzi, but OK. 

Anyways, I have always loved this tune. It's got everything I love. Early trance arpeggios which are a reminder of the link between Hi-NRG, EBM, New Beat and the T word. Cheeky pan-pipe melodies. Breakbeat loops. Spanish vocals. Early 90s cultural naivety. And a lead keyboard sound that feels like a harpsichord. I fucking love harpsichords.

I love playing this tune when it's the least expected. It sounds even better given the slow treatment. So I sure hope you will vibe with it as much as I do.

Franz Scala’s sets are as diverse as the music he curates as label head of Slow Motion. Weaving smoothly between Italian Dance, Psychedelic Disco and Proto House, Franz quickly turns the dance floor into a vignette-tainted retro nostalgia rave fuelled only by his music.

Born in Italy and now a resident of Berlin for a decade Franz has his roots in noise and sonic rock but was led by the record collectors passion into acquiring a taste for modern and not so modern dance floor music. He frequently inspires dancers in clubs all over Europe with his eclectic blend of spacey House, New Wave, Italo and Acid speckled with hints of Electro and Chicago House.

Franz also promotes many events around the german capital such as the monthly Wrong Era, Italian Dance Wave to Bar Noir parties, Magic Waves or New Dance Fantasy Festival beside long time collaboration with Sameheads, he is regular at Griessmuhle and Salon zur Wilden Renate.

Away from the decks Franz has been busy in the studio releasing tracks on cult labels such as World Unknown, Bordello a Parigi, Bahnsteig 23, Tusk Wax, Mechatronica or Discodromo’s Cocktail d’Amore Music. In 2013 he joined Dimitri SoEmotional in the “Studio Luce” project.
