Gats—also known as Voltags, Changa Boys, ghostandthesong, Solarbaby, Lagoon, and Gates—is a producer, DJ, and performer based in Berlin, Germany. He has released music on labels like Invisible Inc., Nein Records, and his own Suçuarana Records.

His music is a unique blend of psychedelic dance music, incorporating elements from various micro-genres over the past 60 years. With a boundless approach to sample exploration and a focus on both the analog and digital realms, Gates' work embodies the freedom of eclecticism.

More sounds for train stations. Work in progress

Preparing my set 裏 Yamanote in this dream studio at @jingumaebonobo Tokyo. I am making one song for each station of the Yamanote line. Trying to capture a Japan-inspired sound.

I am now, for the first time, using a variety of AI tools to help me create the tracks. I will write about the process later. But basically, I am composing the first 30 seconds of the songs manually and then asking the AI to continue the compositions using text prompts like:

"Japan train sounds. Field recordings. Dolby Atmos. Production. Folktronica. Minimal classical. krautrock. tape loops. polyrhythms. swing. 808 groove. breaks. Eastern"

I've noticed it's quite fun to make dub inspired music with AI because the glitches sound like they are on purpose.
