Roam Recordings kicks off 2022 with up and coming Canadian artist RJ Maxwell who brings forth two original electronic dance floor movers. The title track - Motherboard - is a driving energetic offering with melodic electronic underpinnings. The second original - Activate - is an upbeat chugger with a playful vocal. The EP is backed with three diverse remixes. The first is from Wonder Stories boss AIMES who infuses dark psychedelic energy into a shimmering remix of the original title track. For the second remix Canadian cohorts jON2 join in with a gorgeous low slung version of Motherboard. Rounding it out is Roam’s own Jason Peters who edges Activate into cosmic breaks 
territory.

Después de viajar a Centroamérica, Belly Dance Services continúa su viaje más al sur: el decimoquinto lanzamiento del sello titulado Tzantza, una genial colaboración conjunta entre el duo Random Atlas y Marzian ¡El EP presenta también al saxofonísta Jose Pedro Cordova, así como también a los autores a cargo de los poderosos remixes: Cornellius doctor y Oberst & Buchner. 

La pieza principal del Ep es Tzantza, un track de belleza insuperable cargado de percusiones solidas y que cuenta con un sintetizador que nos recuerda a la linea narrativa de Stranger Things. Un trabajo sobresaliente de este 2022.

For those not familiar with the history of dinosaurs, the giant reptiles were crazy for Balearic grooves. Those who managed to flee to outer space before the fateful mass extinction event claim that the big comet hit in the middle of a massive Jurassic luau. At that time, Ibiza-based duo Residentes Balearicos didn’t exist, but their music would certainly conquer the hearts and minds of the clade Dinosauria.

Their forthcoming “Mediterraneo” EP, soon available on the Spanish label Balearic Ensemble in digital and vinyl formats, is a “treasury of wonderful, eclectic dancing music of the highest Balearic order”, wrote Mikey Sibson in the PR text of the release that comes with not one, but two sunny & breezy interpretations of “Mojada” made with love by Das Komplex (SXDNS029): First, a remix; and second, a tropical and mojito-infused Pineapple Bonus Mix.

Premiered here, the remix brings the trippy and mesmerizing original to a more cosmic realm, kind of invoking the early days of Baldelli’s Astro-Funky/Afro-Freestyle with its (incredible amount of) percussive elements, vocal hooks, and distorted riffs. Pure bliss!

Brazilian sound wizard ROTCIV continues to impress with a new EP called 'Delirium'.
As always, the striking artwork is by Daniel Rajcsanyi.

This Latin American artist has honed a colourful signature sound over the last decade. Standout releases have taken him to Permanent Vacation, Massimiliano Pagliaras ́ Funnuvojere Records, Full Pupp and Polari Records. He layers up complex alternating arpeggios, automated synth melodies and weird vocals with minimal drum tracks to create something fresh every time.

Opener 'Tokyo Bay' is a glossy and potent slow-disco cut with tough synth arps and piercing 909 drums. Gated vocals and shooting lasers place you in the middle of a heaving dance floor with your hands in the air. The excellent 'Nobody' then warps space and time with an elastic and dynamic bassline under crashing hits and 90's inspired raw drums. It's a physical workout with plenty of muted acid energy.

'Delirium' then comes in two different forms. The Broken Dreams Mix is a throwback electro-funk cut with snappy breakbeats offset by softer pads as searching synths spray across the mix. Last of all, the Nightmare Mix is a more nimble yet cosmic cut for the afterhours with drums that dart about next to explosion of astral synth. It's got a powerful bassline and plenty of off-grid groove that brings something fresh.

These are four more characterful and vibrant cuts from ROTCIV.

In all situations, he didn't give much away, he preferred to keep his cards close to his chest. It was intriguing; he had a discreet charm that kept her interested - she wanted to know more. But how long would it last? Would the mystique eventually fade or would she simply grow tired of having to break down his walls? She'd have to take the risk to find out and hopefully soon enough she'd be able to peel back his layers. 

A-Tweed's releases come thick and fast. The Rome-based producer and DJ has already charted releases and tracks for Electric Shapes, Odd Pleasures, Belly Dance Services, HEARec and Fienes Tier, and that's not even the full list. Next he brings his signature psychedelic acid and dark electronic creations to Inside Out Records with Rendezvous in Tangier. He employs his arsenal of machines and hypnotic vocal samples for three original cuts that match deep soundscapes and chugging rhythms, completed by a couple of remixes from Scottish producer CAIN and Salons des Amateurs resident Lucas Croon.

Man2.0 aka Mark Bailey, is no stranger to Paisley Dark Records. Having appeared on three previous releases in his guise of remixer, we are extremely excited and honoured to present his debut EP for the label, Red Shift.

When Disco Goes Wrong's Mindbender weighs in with a hefty slab of cosmic Italo grooviness, remaining fully focused on retaining the dance floor. Strobes and smoke at the ready !!!

Swedish artist The Machine Soul who's last release, Norra Linjen, was released here on Paisley Dark Records, has produced a totally unique take on the track with a retro breakbeat feel and old school sampled vocal and yet manages to catapult us somewhere in to the future.

One of Paisley Dark's fave producers, Mark Cooper aka Bedford Falls Players, ventures into early New Order territory with a Hooky style riff played high up the fret board and adding even more melody than would have been thought humanly possible.

Last but certainly not least is our good friends Jezebell who have produced a bouncing cosmic delight which is simply impossible not to dance to. One to get the party started whist out on the terrace enjoying the last of the sunshine.
