A new Optimo Music Disco Plate and the debut release from Feon. When these tracks first came my way I instantly knew they were ripe for a release on the label. Original, idiosyncratic, psychedelic, full of imagination and featuring a couple of dancefloor hits, how could I resist? Also, “The Sun is High” was surely destined to become a sun-blissed summer anthem…..
Feon has a few things he’d like to say about this EP :
“I wrote these tracks in a manic ten-day session, shortly after an unravelling ayahuasca ceremony, which is evidenced in the psychedelic sound of the first track in particular. Upon reflection there is something of a primal quality to “The Sun Is High”, we were all sun worshippers at one point in our ancient history. The vocals are my voice stacked thirty odd times in different harmonies, then put through a space echo, and they're followed by some gratuitous Moog noodling to boot! For use at the beach party.
The flip goes into darker more experimental territory, with “Holland Fly By” taking clear inspiration from an old iMPLOG track, and “Without Sound” getting stranger still, the vocal refrain's mournful, tense landscape interrupted by boisterous drums.
Its a real joy and honour that I can add something to the Optimo sound world as it is one that has given me great pleasure over the years.”

The exclamation Mamahea is much more than a feeling. It is an attempt to start something new together - with everyone who wants to join him on a musical journey.

Mamahea ist wie Wellenrauschen. Stetig in Bewegung auf einer Reise ohne festes Ziel.

Mit seiner ersten Single Mamahea begibt sich Mark Sein in offene Gewässer. In eine Welt des Hörens und Gehört-werdens. Dabei ist Mamahea erst der Anfang einer langen musikalischen Reise.
Viele Tropfen ergeben eine Welle, viele Stimmen einen Chor. Im Song Mamahea collagierte Mark Sein zahlreiche Stimmen seiner Freund*innen, die ihm per Sprachnachricht ihre Version von Mamahea schickten. Der Ausruf Mamahea ist somit weitaus mehr als ein Gefühl. Es ist der Versuch, zusammen etwas Neues zu beginnen - mit allen, die Lust auf eine gemeinsame musikalische Reise mit ihm haben.

¡Escúchame, Cabrón! is a limited-edition C50 cassette announced for pre-order on International Women's Day and made up exclusively of female artists or groups and collaborations featuring a strong female presence.

The purpose of the release is to bring to light, in our own small way, the systemic violence and oppression of women in Spain and around the world and to highlight the incredible female voices present in industrial and synthwave music today.

Spain is a country close to our hearts. It's a beautiful, historic, energetic and culturally-rich nation. Today, the problems women have to face in a society that is generally a privileged population are completely unnecessary. Problems such as being cross-examined in rape trials, gang rape cases being downgraded to sexual assault and an abundance of domestic violence. An average of one woman in killed by her partner per week.

In 2017 Spanish courts received more than 166,000 gender violence complaints against woman - a 16% increased on the year before. Spain is certainly not an exception. Some national studies show that up to 70 per cent of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime.
