BCCO Premiere: Vel - You Taste Like Zaatar [CJACT003]

Seb El Zin, the french composer and multi-instrumentalist known for being a rule breaker in music with his progressive, psychedelic and highly non-4/4 band ITHAK, and hip-hop-free-noise collective ANARCHIST REPUBLIC OF BZZZ, makes his debut in the electronic music scene by entering the stage through a door he designed himself : an atypical uptempo production, driven and influenced by two decades of exposure to turkish music, and filled with original and idiosyncratic sounds that will enchant every listener. By marrying traditional ottoman patterns with prog-psy elements in a modern electronic music context, Seb El Zin has created his own language. Unlike the name of his debut EP "Lingua Minimalista '' suggests, his productions are full of subtle melodic details and irresistible harmonies. “Bassplayer” is Silent Cure´s latest production, coming out off the back of “Natural Punk”, a 3-originals EP released via NEIN Records earlier this year. 

Silent Cure´s track is faithful to the unconventional path followed by the Danish producer when it comes to blending IDM, EBM and ambient : “Bassplayer” is an hypnotic voyage into the underground world, where despair flirts with hope, where light flashes throughout darkness. The dream feels real as it would just before dawn.  

The vintaged DJ & producer who -  since his early days as a DJ in 1995 – has followed closely the evolution of electronic music, delivers yet another idiosyncratic tune for the aficionados of indie electro and wave music.     
 
The single EP “Bassplayer” is completed by a dystopian mix by Berlin-based Thisbe´s label owner Pyrame. 
  
“Bassplayer“ is due to drop on Friday the 10th of October 2024 on all streaming platforms via Thisbe Recordings.

FEINSTOFF PREMIERE: Silent Cure - Bassplayer (Pyrame's Dystopian Mix)

Espacio Cielo is proud to announce the return of French producer Guyd with his latest EP, 'One', set to release on November 21st on Beatport and Bandcamp.

Guyd, who made his debut with the label back in 2020 with the EP 'Crossing,' returns to Espacio Cielo with a refined minimalist sound that showcases his expressive production style. The title track, One, sets the tone of the EP with its captivating sonic atmosphere, further elevated by a remix from Jesu Aparicio, designed for the dancefloor.

The EP also features two versions of another standout track, Time Lines - an Original Mix and a Dark Mix - giving listeners a multifaceted experience. To add to the excitement, the Dark Mix comes with a remix by fellow French producer Pyrame, making his debut on Espacio Cielo.

We are pleased to present our 45th release, this time by Italian producer Treasure Island. This launch promises to immerse listeners in a deep, introspective journey filled with captivating rhythms and intense atmospheres. Sordid Sound System made a storming entrance on Special place by remixing Treasure Island's track 'No Loss'. He returns to the label with his own productions, showing his mastery in the assembly of sonic atmospheres. Every element seems to fall right into place, every sound triggers yet another emotion.

This EP is the closest that Sordid has come to flirting with the 1980s. Throughout its duration, you can hear the sonic imprint of early 80s neo-noir cinema such as Bladerunner, Scarface, and Escape From New York.

'The Great Psychic Outdoors' is a masterpiece imbued with the DNA of the bastard lovechild of John Carpenter and The Cure. One of those tracks you could play on a tape loop for hours. Because it feels intriguing and frightening, but draws you in. Just like hiding away in a tree house and watching the world from above on a rainy day.

'I Dream Of Electric Sheep' delivers Sordid's so-called 'motorik dub', one foot in disco, one foot in the Caribbean, with a nod to Compass Point classics by the likes of Talking Heads and Grace Jones. Like the rest of this EP, these qualitative sounds called for a stellar remixer. With close to a hundred remixes under the belt for artists ranging from Radiohead to Isolée or Romanthony and a massive catalogue of productions that dared to leave dance music for ambient sonic explorations, Ripperton was the perfect pick.

His reimagining of 'I Dream of Electric Sheep' transports us into daring dreamlike realms of rhythmic exploration, Deckard's beat-up Spinner escapes the smog of the dystopian city for the clouds high above.

And to close us out with a vital burst of cracked up mechanical energy, 'David, I'm Just A Curious Soul' brings searing phantasmagorical acid-house to the imaginary dancefloor of a late 80s warehouse party on the lower East side of New York.

40 Thieves are back on Roam Recordings, teaming up with vocalist Alona to release their latest cosmic disco gem, 'Shake You Off'. Fans of the trio (Layne Fox, Corey Black, and Jay Williams) might recognize them from the dancefloor classic 'Don't Turn it Off (I Think I Like It)', their eclectic album 'The Sky is Yours', or their previous Roam hit 'Take Me I'm Yours'.

This new single delivers a dancefloor-ready track featuring Alona's vocals layered over lush electronic melodies.

The release also features two standout remixes from Roam Recordings alumni Shubostar and label boss Jason Peters. Shubostar kicks things off, maintaining the warm, inviting vibe while introducing a dash of Italo disco flair. 3 years after their debut, Lyon-based collective Silence Collapse are back with a new compilation featuring some of the finest producers on the French music scene.

Keeping with the collective's original philosophy, ‘VA II’ mixes styles and energies, bringing together 11 tracks of varying shades. From Dubstep to IDM, the compilation offers a wealth of sound that best represents the musical eclecticism defended by Silence Collapse.

VA II will be available on 24 January on Bandcamp and all streaming
platforms. All sales will be donated to the Lyon-based charity "Tous à la musique".

Info: “Drumology” – The title track itself is already an invitation for the curious to discover a singular side of Agle. The French artist is indeed known for revisiting 80s synthscapes with his own pen and keeping the genre very well alive, this, both through his own music as well as his newly-established label Rewind It.

With “Drumology”, the Barcelona-based takes another path in his music production journey by delivering an uptempo 2-track EP, which also features the track “Second City”. It is an exhilarating voyage throughout crowed geographies, as the listener could instantaneously picture her/himself in the Grand Bazar of Istanbul, on a highway crossing Osaka´s skyline or in the heat of a buoyant market in Bombay. The music is intense and original, sleek with a zest of folie: All the ingredients we love at THISBE.

The EP is completed by remixes by Radial Gaze, and Pyrame: By remixing ”Drumology”, Radial Gaze, a pillar artist of the label, drives the listener into another spiral of beats, adding his own acid and tribal elements “à la Radial Gaze”, while by reworking “Second City”, Pyrame takes a more trancy route to ensure the immersion into Agle´s raging work of art is complete.
