(A) Good Friday basis is the day before, Holy Thursday. And both days are seemingly to become good days as Jennifer Touch releases her first ever self-release EP on her Bandcamp-page. The artist, who's originally home in Berlin, has been residing in Brighton for a few months now to work in the FatCat Studio and, according to Jen, "found a fresh perspective on music and life." Latter is something inevitable, probably even more challenging in these times, to create or come up with new ways to produce music and the connected creative process. However, the always and forever Riotvan family member, shares three new tracks with her audience under the EP's working title Moon In Aries. While the entire EP will be available on the before mentioned Good Friday, the take Nails And Fails is ready for your listening pleasure by now. The track is an experimental IDM-influenced excursion into Jennifer's current artistic state of mind, with bubbling chords and the artist's catchy voice, whispering singing speaking her way throughout the track and generating an atmosphere as well as vibe that crawls into one's mind (at night).

“Things that happen all over the world cause a heavy impact on people’s lives, and Russia is no exception. The human rights situation in Russia is becoming more acute each year. We believe that the violation of human rights is unacceptable. With Hand to Hand VA we want to draw public attention to this problem and provide assistance to organizations involved in helping people faced with arbitrariness. We have brought together like-minded musicians who share the ideas of cooperation, freedom and unity.
All proceeds from the VA will be split equally between the Russian human rights organizations: Mediazona (an independent media platform focused on the judiciary, law enforcement and penal system in Russia founded by Pussy Riot members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova) and OVD-Info (an independent human rights media project aimed at combating political persecution)".

Boasting a catalogue of distinctive music, Massimiliano Pagliara's Funnuvojere turned two this year. Its eight release comes from Clarinets the new alias of Tbilisi based Gacha Bakradze. Invisible Path is the title of this EP, a name that seems to reference Gacha’s own nimble movements across cities and genres. It started in 2015 with a rather ambient LP with Apollo Records, and has recently seen him releasing a third LP with Barcelona’s Lapsus Records. Despite this new skin, Gacha’s identity can still be strongly felt in Clarinets. 

The four tracks composing this EP highlight Bakradze’s mastership in designing harmonies. Graceful frequencies rise from the title track, driven by a steady arpeggio that builds and explodes in multiple directions. ‘Dry Bridge’ uses classic balearic sounds to decorate a powerful bass line, evoking an accelerated sunset at sea. The same balearic iterations define the deeply emotional ‘Knee’, in which the sound breathes and expands skywards. The closing track ‘Afternoon’ is a warm house ballad to round-off the last moments of a long after-hours session.

Mexico’s leading underground Duro Label is back with another incandescent EP, this time from Torreón based producer Macualay, who serves up fine three original deviant house cuts with a remix from Fabio Me Llaman Soltero. 

During last year's confinement, using the lowest lo-budget equipment and a microphone of dubious provenance, Macaulay together with his bastard clone DJ Papi created a new EP full of corrugated house, heavy kicks, fleshy basses and highly impure synths. 

Opening the pleasure feast  is ‘A Gozar’, a six-minute roller with ghostly buried synths, narcotic voices over  heavy drums and chubby bass. “Latinon”, the second original track and the first of the two collaborations with DJ Papi, is a HOT, clear example of Mexico's tech-mex sound at it's finest: an anthem for the sexy young souls of the forbidden latin warehouse party scene.

Up next comes “Meneitous”, a lewd lesson in total tension that takes the dancefloor to darker places. On the remix duties, Guatemala’s papi Fabio Me Llaman Soltero delivers a chunky tribal beat running through flailing percussion, delayed vocal sounds, and uncontrolled synths.

Hard Fist: how did you discover this track?
Fabio: I’m a huge fan of what Goa culture did for the music that I like now and the Belgian New beat. This track was a huge hit (for indoor and outdoor events). Definitely Front 242 is a big influence in rave culture and it’s been several years since I wanted to make a small edit for this banger.
