Cosmo Vitelli - As She Rolled Another EP

Lithuania’s Ponty Mython brings his signature style of dubbed out cosmic breaks to Not An Animal Records.

The title track Onimano X991 sparkles as it leads the way with a heavy four to the floor bass kick laced with an eerie interstellar melody and signature broken beat drum pattern. Deliciously squelchy interludes and breakdowns are the cherry on the space cake here. Not An Animal are known for bringing in the heavies, this time music round, musical rearrangement aficionado DJ Fett Burger gives ‘Onimano X991’ an atmospheric massage. Launching with an eerie melody recognisable from the original mix but minus the squelch. Fett Burger transcends the track from a 2am floor killer to a 6am floor chiller via a cleverly reprogrammed drum pattern, drawing the stress right out of your deltoids with his beautifully formed fingers like only he does.

‘Walkie Talkie’ is a late night squelch-a-thon from the get go, oozing NAA style with its vocoder arps and space didgeridoos all over its four to the floor kick. Closing out the EP ‘We Expect A Soft Landing’ nails its orbital re-entry calculations, touching down squarely on the realms of ambient dub techno. A tasteful composition reminiscent of something from The Higher Intelligence Agency’s ‘Colourform’. This track leaves us with a perfectly paced build that culminates in chesty bass swells and loads of bleepy sounding arps.

A deeply personal project for the Biologic Records co-boss, Higher Hopes is inspired by the deep immersive, unconventional and left-leaning underground music he loves to play in clubs.
Music like Krokakai’s. An emergent Glaswegian producer with a penchant for hardware – largely using an MPC2000XL, SH09, MS20 Mini, TT-303, Roland Alpha Juno and other trusted tools – he’s already turned heads on labels such as Invisible Inc and PowerStation Records. Right here he lays down the label’s parameters with four unique, far-reaching escapades.
Our pick here falls on ‘The Silk Road’ which picks up the eastern trail and sweeps us deep into the desert on a flying acid carpet.
Music to dance to, music to dream to, music for brighter times. Higher Hopes is vinyl-focused and distributed by Brussels record store Crevette Records. More transmissions will follow very soon.

In the middle of the summer Yeho, an Israeli musician coming from Tel Aviv, was wandering around Italy and randomly he found himself in the “Quintino Basement”, lair of Ninja Exotic Machine.
This casual encounter gave birth to three new tracks where the
duo’s downtempo and tribal style merges with Yeho’s crisp and raw vocal together with intriguing percussions samples extracted from live recordings of the percussionist Andrea Greco.
The result is an Ep called “36 questions” out on Pho Bho Records on the 14th of October.

I’m a Cliché presents Cosmo Vitelli’s As She Rolled Another, a digital-only EP featuring an original track and gathering alternate versions from the Berlin-based artist’s vaults. It comes a few months prior to his new album planned in February 2022 and entitled Medhead.

As She Rolled Another is born out of Vitelli’s desire to share a newly produced track along with significantly alternative versions of existing music, which were created for pleasure. Indeed, Vitelli wanted to play with existing material to take it in strikingly different directions, prior to his album's release.

The unreleased track features singer Izzy Lindqwister and additional production by Krikor. It is a plodding post-punk, dub-infused affair, intimate and insidious at the same time.

The EP also includes two club-oriented tracks he released on Les Disques De La Mort and Malka Tuti along with an alternate take in a kosmiche mood of his collaboration with Julienne Dessagne of Fantastic Twins, also found on his 2019 Malka Tuti EP.

Cosmo Vitelli (Ft. Fantastic Twins) - A Brand New City (Alternate Version)

Amsterdam’s Sinchi Music returns with its 10th release, this time from German duo Le Jeune Flück and featuring remixes from Moscoman, Theus Mago and themselves.
Sinchi Music launched their label back in early 2019 off the back of their popular blog, events and DJ sets. The imprint’s mission has been to release quality left of centre electronic music, with all funds going to a non-profit foundation to support indigenous peoples’ right and preservation of culture. To date the label has seen music from
the likes of Sascha Funke, Khidja, Man Power, Curses, Tolouse, Low Trax and many more and has gained a solid following, whilst doing some genuine good for the world.
Frankfurt based pair Le Jeune Flück are the latest to join the ranks of Sinchi’s artists. The duo have been collaborating together since 2013 and have recent release on Dionysian Mysteries and clipp.art. Here they offer up the superb ‘Unexpected Ends’, a rolling arpeggiated affair that comes on like the love child of Giorgio Moroder and Underworld. Incandescent synths and ethereal drifting melodies provide the perfect soundbed for the distinct half sung / half spoken vocals creating a track that is hard not to love.
The first of the remixes comes from Israeli producer, Disco Halal label boss and general don, Moscoman. His remix journeys into glitchier electro territory with a real sense of wonkiness and some seriously driving percussion. Next up, Sinchi deliver their own mix that taps into the otherworldly with its cavernous FX, and off kilter electronic vibe. Finally Mexican artist and Duro co-founder Theus Mago takes things into a chuggier realm with a cosmic mid-tempo workout that is divine, a perfect closer to an outstanding package.

Like a predator stalking its prey, she surveyed the room with her piercing blue eyes, looking for a potential suitor to hold her attentions for the evening. Her reputation preceded her but her beauty was so much so that it blinded them all to the hair raising tales told about her. How could one so graceful, one so poised and elegant be capable of such things? As far as they were concerned, if she wanted them, she was welcome to them.

Four years after the release of their acclaimed debut LP 'An Animal Orchestra' for Inside Out Records, producers Stavros Potamitis & Constantinos Parisinos AKA After Altamont call on the skills of several talented artists to reimagine the tracks from the release. Featuring on all star cast including MR TC, Gina Breeze, Zombies In Miami, A Strange Wedding, Anatolian Weapons and our pick from Salon des Amateur affiliate Tolouse Low Trax, the remix package takes the psych rock, Greek folk and soulful dub sonics of the original and twists them into slow, hypnotic, trance-inducing grooves.

INDUSTRIA #3 is the 3rd vinyl release combining all tracks not yet released on Vinyl from Compilation #1 + #2. Including The Lunacy Of Flowers (Robi Insinna Versions), SASM, Silent Servant remix, Robi Insinna’s Hard Work 2020 Dub, Nik Colk Void Remix and some Dub versions.

Side A starts off with Robi Insinna’s version of Your Way by The Lunacy Of Flowers. The Lunacy Of Flowers is a one man post-industrial act from London. Robi Insinna added and reworked the original version. 

Next is SASM – Democracy and Collective Action. SASM is a new collaboration project by Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb) and Robi Insinna. Under that banner the collective interests of both Insinna and McCarthy in raw beats and sharp edge funk are laid bare. It shows the depth of knowledge and interest in the underground.

Robi Insinna’s Hard Work (2020 Dub) is the last track on this side. The original Version was on IND001 blue limited edition Vinyl.

Side B starts with the Dub version of Your Way by The Lunacy Of Flowers. It was done in a real style dub session using an analog mixer and external reverbs, effects and tape delays.

Silent Servant remixed SASM – Democracy. Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant is a producer and DJ from L.A. He added his apocalyptic culture aesthetics, capturing the youth-driven mutation of crossover electronics. The remix feels like a wired Alan Vega / Nitzer Ebb track from the early 2000's that does not exist. 

Nik Colk Void remix of Democracy by SAMS is the next track. Next to her solo work she is part of Carter Tutti Void and Factory Floor. 

The last track on this side is Collective Action (Rockers version) by SASM.
