London label @scuffedrecs is kicking 2020 off with a three-tracker from  Brighton duo @heritage_ds, aka Movement and Tribalist.

The new EP,  'The Revelation', marks Heritage's Scuffed debut and arrives with the label's eye-catching (and now signature) artwork. It follows up a string of impressive releases from the likes of Croft, Farsight and Intern Hook-Up which released last year via Scuffed. 

In terms of the music, 'The Revelation' is a three-track snapshot of the woozy, mutated and tailor-made-4-the-rave trend popular among UK producers of late. Across the EP the pair utilise elements from electro, garage and breaks in a way that's sure to delight fans and newcomers to their music alike upon release.

As Hamburg based label TAU rings in the new decade, it's Echonomist who delivers the soundtrack for the label's first release of 2020. Altogether three original tracks plus a remix from Ditian can be found on the artist's homage to New Wave, simply called 'Modern Wonder'. After a successful 2019 Petros, Echnomist's real name, and releases on Innervisions, Blue Shadow or Watergate continues his run and demand of contributing meaningful and valuable music to the scene and its floors. Speaking of the latter, Echonomist, who enjoys his international artist career, supports local and aspiring musicians with his Sunday event 'Dreams', which seems to be a solid base to play yourself into the spotlight of the Greek scene. However, Petros talks the 411 on his upcoming release as well as giving us some insights into his 'coming' as an artist and how'll be the next big thing from Greece.

You run, your heart beats fast. You are breathing heavy, but steady. The surge of adrenaline makes you feel like you could do this forever. Awake, alert, excited or maybe a little scared of what’s going to happen. You can feel the sweat on your back and goosebumps on your forearms. It’s finally happening and it’s happening under your terms. You got it. “Dominator” by Kalipo & Local Suicide is an electro anthem full of physicality and furor, of determinedness and power. Vamparela’s vocals are like the voice inside your gut that you should listen to a little more often, while the driven bassline and 80s inspired analog synths will occupy your mind and focus your thoughts. “Crocodile”, the second track of the release, is the other side of the coin – not any less definite, however more haunted and introspected in contrast. It isn’t always easy, but let’s take control and dance it out before life eats us up!

The EP “Dominator / Crocodile” will be released on 5th February via Hold Your Ground, incl. remixes by Theus Mago a.k.a. Bufi from Mexico City and Radial Gaze from Saint Petersburg. In Berlin, sooner or later everyone meets. Let’s find out what more there is to be expected from this producer trio!

Six months after the first volume, not for profit label Sinchi, which donates all proceeds to support the preservation of indigenous culture, follows up with the second edition of their Altered States compilation. This is an essential collection of this well-minded label’s broad array of sounds from red hot producers all over the world.

Nein Records’ Carolain Luf has gained a lot of attention for her eclectic sets over the last 10 years and is a resident of the Olympe party series at Griessmuehle, Berlin. Her standout production ​here is underpinned by a warped bassline and subtle acid undulations that slowly add up to an epic trip. Germany's Heidenreich is a debut artist who says the inspiration for this one came from "an after-hours where I found a documentary about the invention of radio. I made it with my Korg MicroKorg, a Minilouge, guitar and some VSTs." The result is an intergalactic broadcast, a cosmic communication with a faraway planet made up of gurgling lines, analogue sounding drums and hits and plenty of muffled spoken word samples.

"Producer and DJ Connor McElhinney, working under the alias 95Bones, draws together disparate threads from dance music’s transatlantic evolution, fusing varied influences to produce recordings that transcend imitation and pastiche to render a new sound with each iteration.

Though the producer’s discography is marked by a willingness to explore any aspect of club music’s beautifully diverse spectrum of rhythms, textures and colours, there are audible touchstones across much of his output: the fluid resonance of acid basslines, the rhythmic turbulence of riotous breaks, and a playful sense of experimentation propelled by a relentless momentum.

Issuing high-voltage releases since 2017’s ‘Blast Chiller’ EP, McElhinney has developed an unyielding work ethic underpinned by a desire to constantly create, experiment and further his techniques. Since his debut, the producer has teamed up with Eyeangle Records and Plus Ultra while forging a close relationship with Scuffed Recordings – this February, he’s releasing his first offering for Sample Delivery, a Paris-based imprint known for their crazed disco edits and raw, uncivilised ventures into ghetto-house.

The forthcoming ‘Lafeyette Pt. 2’ is a four-track exhibition of McElhinney’s extraordinary ability to craft left-field club tracks that innovate and invigorate in equal measure, moving through tempestuous 4/4 delirium and breaks-based hardcore derangement while retaining a sense of brightness and colour through his expert capability behind a mixing desk and a synthesizer.

Russian producer Panorama Channel team up with fellow Russian-born, Lithuanian-based producer Pletnev for a new EP entitled Blavatsky. Both known for their individual exploits, Pletnev on labels like Fleeting Wax, Hard Fist, Bahnsteig 23 and Le Temps Perdu and Panorama Channel on Karakter as well as two previous EPs for Biologic, the label their new collaborative EP is coming out on. The pair bring a hypnotic, psychedelic quality to the three original tracks that feature whirring melodies, driving beats and dramatic synths, while You're Me's Yu Su and Moscow's Simple Symmetry bring their own signature styles on the remix.

The LP was recorded as an extension of some of the artists moodier singles on Shall Not Fade sister imprint, Lost Palms. It explores a more experimental approach towards House music, whilst drawing influence from some of his more downtempo style releases as Bartosz Kruczyński.

Hebrew electronic duo Megaphonim first started operating in the 90s in Tel Aviv, but after being jailed for 18 months for unclear reasons, their productions took a different form. Adding elements of despair, hope, irony and tongue-in-cheek humour to the equation, their new sound shines on their debut album for Unterman, the label they released a single on back in 2017. Stam Sofer also features three remixes from Kino Todo, Simple Symmetry and our driving synth pick from a duo who have become synonymous with psychedelic electronic productions, Garzen records founders Red Axes.
