After United Identities' successful first vinyl release "Modern Intimacy Volume 1" in 2020, founder, DJ, producer and music curator Carista decided it was time for round two. Named after her debut mixtape, we are proud to present "Modern Intimacy Volume 2". This album is a blend between contemporary and futuristic sounds by 10 rising Dutch artists curated by the label head herself. The intention of the compilation is to nurture and showcase contemporary Dutch homegrown artists and the range of their craft; Breaking the boundaries of sound and genre as we know it, with a refusal to be categorized or caged in.

The album starts with the hopeful and soothing track "Whistle, accompanied by a saxophone and flute that gently guides you through the story of Brintex Collective. Then we are moving onwards to genre defying artist Phantom Wizard, who takes you from experimental synth jazz to an electronic dance riddim named "Awa". These two tracks serve as the perfect introduction and sets the tone of the label's versatile compilation. Followed by Thrills in +41 eerie, steady soundscaping drum patterns in "Strangelove64'', groovy bass heavy breaks that invite you to move your whole body to EYCEE's "Crunk", or to be enticed to a dark forest full of raving dancers with the dark but dreamy techno banger "Body On The Floor" by DutchAfro featuring vocals by Luka Eyrie. 

On the second half of the LP we are transported to an utopian dream reality in "On" by Sansouni with ethereal voices and sounds; Percussion and sample heavy "38A" by Conrad Soundsystem; The glitchy and dark "Personal Reality" by Mayo and shortly after we are taken on a journey through time and space by futuristic artist audt98 in "6 Identical Atoms". The compilation concludes with Acidic Male's "Zero Authority", shifting between cutting snares, alluring synths and poetic vocals.

Platform, music label and event series United Identities aims to nurture and hold space for local artists. As an extension of that care, Carista found it important to physically realize the efforts and legacy of the artists, by pressing their music on vinyl. Modern Intimacy Volume 2 showcases the harmonious, yet versatile musical approach of the label, as well as the artists that embody it. Keep an eye out on all of these artists, as they are destined for greatness.

Modern Intimacy Volume 2

In April 2023, Tresor Records will unveil a new EP from DALO entitled "GUM". DALO, aka Nadia D'Alo, is one of the founders of the R.i.O label and half of the duo INIT. After several years of performing as INIT with Benedikt Frey, she had her solo live debut in Berlin in 2022. This record follows releases on labels such as ESP Institute and Warning. "GUM" showcases DALO's expert mastery of rising tension through analogue sound sources, as it swings in and remains with minimal changes and accentuation.

"Woodpecker" enters a tunnel of reverberant claps, moving in a potent exercise of deftly manipulated acid. "Wavehall" draws vocal smears across expansive, droning basses and 140bpm techno rhythms. In "Bachlash", she takes inspiration from events of Iranian and Afghan women revolting for their rights, expressing hope for the rebound of control after long political oppression. Electro beats are introduced underneath the full-frontal melodic acid, while processed spoken word samples bring a new focus. DALO takes the rebounding control and strives forward into the unknown with "GUM", its segmented vocal samples playing a captivating partnership with acidic slides. The EP closes with "Pilot," a digital bonus track that releases some of the tension built up throughout and propels the dancer towards transcendent shapes.

TEN. KR3 marks the double-figure release, starring David Foster: 
the man behind the Huren project, which has been churning out influential tracks for the past three decades. 

Blood Fire Debt - has been described by David with one word: 'survival'. Indeed, in this tenth release we rediscover an already legendary artist of the power electronics scene, in his most honest and consistent form. Expressing himself through cinematic-noise, harmonised by dark drones and slo-mo rhythms. 

Still navigating through the chaos, this ride will take us back to the 90s, thanks to the presence of a track (B2. Mytologinen) produced in those years. There will be a unique insert with the HUREN portrayed under one of the twin towers.

December is a fitting name for French producer, Tomas More: just as the month sits in a transient and liminal space in the northern hemisphere as nature seemingly pauses and the old year passes to the new, December's music similarly sits in between genres; neither here nor then completely.

With the release of What Remains of Us, first half of a two-part project entitled Transform, December transits through the spaces between electro, goth, coldwave, jungle, and dark ambient creating a collage-like work.

Of the release, More states, “I am fascinated by music that is impossible to pin down and classify, making it my own weird little style. Of course there's my never-ending attraction to the bizarre and mysterious; to film references; romanticism but I'd say the central element of this record is the idea that everything can subtly be blending together: everything can be transformed; like organic matter made out of our obsessions resulting in a strange and transformed piece of sound that, I hope, sounds like me: in the qualities, and in the flaws. A genuine identity made of never-ending transformations."

This concept of deft hybridisation is further explored in the sleeve photography by Marie Quéau, a continuation of their work together on recent December A/V live shows. The image evokes Cronenberg-esque body horror, footage from deep-sea shipwreck exploration, or even autopsy footage, giving a clear sense of unease whilst avoiding mere shock value.

"The Sun Sets and I Keep Walking" is not a conceptual album by any means, but there are some ideas orbiting. The title track and a couple of others ("The Eternal Now", "Golden Aether") are a reflection on mortality and transcendence, whatever that means. Big words, hopefully expressed in an unpretentious manner. "Lie is the Force that Rules the World" is overtly political; it tries to express the uncertainty of these times of fake news, deep fakes and all-in- between-fake. Deceit is indeed a powerful weapon pointing at us all nowadays. "Gnostic Switchblade" is somewhat related, albeit taken from the other side: spirituality is an active form of resistance from that aggression. Maybe there is no way out, but there is a way. Finally, in a lighter note, "Smokehead" is a reference to both my live shows always full of smoke and the smokey flavor of a good Islay Scotch, which I'm very fond of.
