Squirrels on Radio - Escape from Splat City 3/19/21

Schrödinger’s Box found a true audio delinquent when they discovered Rapha. Resident at Alphabet Club in Tel Aviv, this is a musician who creates tracks with a punk attitude and a painted acid smile. The co-founder of Chateau Royal arrives with four blistering numbers for our box. After the pounding percussion and 303 smears of “Ivanka”, this sidewinder synthesist unfurls the brooding darkness that is “Transform.” Lighter tones pierce the gloom in the carefully crafted “Visionia” before The Exaltics lands for some deep and dreamy electro with an incredible remake of “Voyager101.” Rapha’s original of “Voyager101” closes the 12”. Rasping rhythm patterns cut a path for rich dauby analogue bars in this stripped-back, late-night close.

Works As a look back, back to 2014 when Dominik aka Kletis moved to the new city at the top northern borders of Czech Sudeten land. City where is always raining. And where melancholic mood spreads through the city from the nearby forests with the morning fog. Back to 2014 when kletis music production was highly influenced by UKs original sound of dubstep. Those sub-level harmonic beats and gun fingers in the sky. Those memories of a Sunday hangover, when you stay in bed all day and your only duty is to change vinyl once you listened both sides.  This ep is Kletis's reflection of his relationship with the city he's been living since 2014. Both Happy and Sad times, Pure Ecstasy and Sadness, Broken Hearth and Feeling Loved. That's the Midnight Nectar.

The roads were clear tonight. Just as well, they'd had a foot on the accelerator as soon as they hit the motorway. It wouldn't be long before they turned off into rural country roads and made their way through the forest, guided not by street lights but by the distant throb of music, leading them to a utopia within the trees. At least for the next 15 hours, thoughts of the working week would be left behind...

For their next release, Moscow's Ida Sound (ИДА) keep it in the family, welcoming the talents of long-time friend, collaborator and remixer Panorama Channel for his first solo EP on the label. Made up of two original cuts, backed by remixes from Malka Tuti affiliate Linja and NYC-Berlin duo Ma Sha Ru, 'Dybenko Meltdown' is one for the floor; fuelled by mysterious melodies, crisp breaks, rumbling bass lines and bags full of rave energy.

Producing under Euclio moniker since his early dubstep years, Prague based architect by the time shaped his vibes to more club-oriented territories.., yet still forming both unusually structured and (thus) strangely catchy environment and beat patterns..
But where to move when there are no dancefloors at all?

His addition Cyno is likely taking place at voluntarily dissociated living rooms, outputting undetermined schizoid of intensions to dance, but in mostly isolated spaces.. experiencing lonely happiness and moments of introversion. Like a look onto smile and grin of the presence, with the black coloured lipstick on.

While original versions feel weirdly charming and somehow pure and simple in its effectiveness - tight percussions are riding like razor edges over surrounding darken lights of the atmospheres, beats‘ clips and pieces swarming with bubbling and blopping synths..; remixers puts heavy-atmo lines and waves, observing sound material, worming you, or hypnotise.. But still, there’s enough space to drow or sink in..
