Hot on the heels from releases on Ivan Smagghe’s Les Disques De La Mort and Cormac’s Polari; Zillas on Acid prepare their debut EP for Jordan Nocturne's Belfast based label, featuring three impressive acid-drenched cuts and a stellar remix from Vanessa Worm - an artist whose impressive debut album on Optimo Music was one of the stand-out releases of 2020.

The clue’s in the name, and while acid may be the centerpiece of the EP, each track varies in sonic sensibility as we delve deeper into the duo's futuristic sound palette.

Title track Sorry I Was In VR is a serotonin-boosting chugger with earwriggle synth stabs that highlight the pair's ear for melody, while From Afar - futuristic and bold - blends other-worldly sounds with brooding percussion. Vanessa Worm's rendition goes back to basics with a muscular drum-led approach; punchy kicks and bouncy aesthetics churning out a hypnotic wobbler that highlights the euphoria that can be discovered in simplicity.

He Wasn't Afraid... is a downtempo voyage drawn in distinct and vivid colour. Deep bass notes and twangling synths hang in dark space while an acid arpeggio glides through the twinkling vortex. “He wasn’t afraid” cries out in the distance, giving us the push to move forward, one step at a time.

Nocturne has a holistic approach to each release - combining art, music and meaning at every turn. With its roots firmly planted in Belfast and one eye on the rest of the world - 2021 is set to be a busy year for the young forward-thinking imprint.

After releasing three italo inspired EPs let’s switch course and slow things down a little bit. Time to take a darker path by diving deep into Le Martinet LP, a gloomy trip crafted by our fellow frenchmans Mimmo & Hirschmann.

On the right corner, Hirschmann. Hailing from Bordeaux, Ola Radio resident, tplt affiliate and Eclipse Collective boss. Reckless in his selections, he’s an enthusiast for all things leftfield : gloomy trance, lustful & downtempo EBM, psychedelic and experimental incantations.

On the left corner, Mimmo, evolving between Nantes & Rennes, label owner of ambient and industrial techno Nocturnal Frequencies, and frontrunner of darkwave & EBM inspired act Depht Mod.

Fascinated by coldwave, newbeat and post punk from the 80s era, his strong love and interest for EBM heavy energy got this far : writing his master thesis based on it, getting in touch and interviewing the Belgian masters Front 242. Pretty cool right ?

And lurking in the dark, here’s colombian producer Filmmaker. Ultra prolific and highly talented, with releases on Detriti Records, Opal Tapes and Soil, his brutal take on the title track feels like a hundred whips of burning steel raining down upon you.

Mimmo & Hirschmann never properly met and started working remotely during the first lockdown. After sharing their respective work, exchanging visions, ideas and a great amount of emails, they quickly found a common ground, even found themselves experimenting with stuff that were new for both of them.

When they reached out to us with three of their solo and collab tracks we were instantly captivated and quickly the idea of releasing these tracks as a whole came naturally to us.

Le Martinet is an intense clash of slow and languorous grooves colliding into a spiral of raw violence. Expect dark, anxious settings, and get lost in these melancholic & hypnotic feelings.

Works As a look back, back to 2014 when Dominik aka Kletis moved to the new city at the top northern borders of Czech Sudeten land. City where is always raining. And where melancholic mood spreads through the city from the nearby forests with the morning fog. Back to 2014 when kletis music production was highly influenced by UKs original sound of dubstep. Those sub-level harmonic beats and gun fingers in the sky. Those memories of a Sunday hangover, when you stay in bed all day and your only duty is to change vinyl once you listened both sides. After the publication of its first record on Dec. 2020, Lyon-based Bamboo Shows label is happy to start 2021 by returning to the cassette-format with the 6-track Debut-EP from Italian duo Perse, formed by Marco Milanesio (DsorDNE, 9cento9) and Emiliana Voltarel (Braconidae). ‘Exile in H’ is a great gathering of spoken poetry, illbient, electronic experimentations and field recordings. Its dark, heavy industrial / noise atmospheres occasionally reach liberating climax, moving the listener away from the initially induced torpor through explosive drumlines.

The Gun Well Street are pleased to present The Gun Aid LP. 14 tracks that perfectly encapsulate the sound of one of too many guinnesses underneath the neon lights late into the evening. The kind of leftfield jams we love, be it techno, house, dub, EBM or industrial. An eclectic bunch of oddballs, just like our regulars.

Many of our nearest and dearest have donated songs, including Daniel Avery, Nitzer Ebb, Roisin Murphy, Andy Bell (as GLOK), and The 2 Bears’ Raf Rundell. We’ve got the first ever track from Mister Deltoid, the brand new project by Nathan Gregory Wilkins & Paranoid London’s Quinn Whalley. Ivan Smagghe and C.A.R. make up I.C.A.R. Body Hammer’s Scott Fraser, Richard Sen, Cherrystones, Nuphonic’s Dave Hill & the Ballistic Brothers as Soul Revivers, Arveene Juthan & Shamon Cassette as Bon Voyage, Skylab with Cecile Loyez, and our very own Mondowski are all on board. Design work, as ever, by Rusty. We’d like to thank everyone involved not just for their contributions, but for their continued support and friendship.

The Gun isn’t just a music venue, it’s very much a community pub in-fact, of all the artists on the tracklist, only Roisin hasn’t DJed there (yet). A year of disastrous Tory policy in the face of a global pandemic and things have never been so tough, but that doesn’t just go for us. It goes for the entire community. As such, proceeds from this project will be split between keeping the pub afloat, and to be donated to local families via charity Hackney Quest. Hackney Quest are a local charity who have worked with The Gun in coordinated projects, such as organising an anti-racism street festival on Well Street over the last few years.

All bandcamp pre-orders will also receive digital downloads of tracks from Jorge Velez and Toresch which have never been released digitally before.

This is what Daniel Monaco & Futuristant made fusing their forces even tho the two artists  have never met yet in real life the duo sounds like they are meant to be, their productivity results in tracks that you will hear these coming months from different labels, the debut on Rotten City is a track called Hide, label boss Alvaro Cabana instantly fell in love with the track and demanded it be part of the compilation Rotten Citizens Vol. 4
 
Daniel Monaco is whispering on the track, the tune is very carefully produced by the duo.
 
A deep warm yet cold and sharp feeling is running thru the whole track both results of Futuristant sound design skills and Monaco’s synths touch. 

The message of Hide is a challenge and a advice, it says: I’m ready when you are, you trying now to catch me but you can’t ‘cause I’m too far, I’m fading in the stars I’m lighting up the Dark there are no place left for you to hide from here to Mars HIDE!

It's nice how music can bring people together no matter how far away they are. I met Takumi through a small facebook group for people who love trance, and through that discovered his last mix. Very happy to host his newest one. Takumi is a Tokyo local and integral member of the techno/trance rave scene.  He has flawlessly pulled together an hour of trance gems, including a forthcoming Animalia tune ;-)
