Beyond The Struttosphere is a sonic collaboration between two London-based DJs combining their considerable musical production experience with an insatiable passion for cosmic chugging dark disco.

The cosmonauts embark on their most ambitious journey yet with the release of ‘Odyssey-10’ on Emerald & Doreen records. True to its name, the lead track evokes an epic space voyage propelled by driving arpeggiators, chunky layered percussion, high-octane guitar hits and the signature BTS chug bassline.

The tune progresses into a tectonic breakdown heightened by
spacey Juno chords before launching into a dynamite crescendo that burns contrails through the atmosphere.

Remixes are provided by two bastions of the scene: Mexican dark wave star
Vongold introduces lustful celestial vocals into the mix, dialling down the tempo, and repurposing the track into a post-punk acid chugger that takes no prisoners. French dark disco connoisseur Badknife applies his masterful touch with a second remix, cranking up the throb and deploying interstellar synth arrangements that will have you reaching for your seatbelt.

The duo venture into uncharted territory with ‘Satellite Cities’, a collaboration with cosmic queen Miss Zagato. Undoubtedly their funkiest production to date, this galactic chugger is a hypnotic blend of funky guitar plucks, electrifying stabs and groovy riffs, underpinned by Miss Zagato’s intoxicating lyrics that transport you to the moon in a hypersonic X-15. Building in momentum and complexity, the track climaxes with a mesmerising vocal chorus, elevated by cosmic synth melodies and a resonating mid-range bass that will echo for aeons to come.

The original is backed by a sublime remix from Spanish electronic virtuoso, Ivan Fabra, whose take re-imagines the track as a pulsating Balearic dancefloor anthem loaded with powerful drums and ethereal pads that melt into the sunset.

The EP concludes with ‘Storming Heaven’, a sonically charged acid trip that adventures through the cosmos, guided by a weighty chugging bass, a psychedelic 303 line, tripped out guitar chords and an array of cosmic FX. The tune traverses two mystical breakdowns before ascending into stratospheric planes with a euphoric synth sequence and a staggering guitar solo courtesy of long-time BTS collaborator Stannard Procedure. Zakmina presents a commanding dark disco release for Minimood with two spellbinding originals filled with unique and captivating sounds. The EP is complemented by compelling remixes from Curses and Rude 66. “Makam” comprises of an alluring array of instruments that create a mesmerizing atmosphere with an oriential mood to it. Curses retains this atmosphere in his remix, albeit with a deeper and darker tone. Unfolding a massive EBM vibe, “Mental Syndicate” forms a dancefloor destroyer that is driven by a vigorous kick and snare. Step into the vibrant world of Technicism and Chinosynth - two talented producers hailing from the sun-soaked streets of Culiacán, Sinaloa, México - as they debut on Roam Recordings with their Discodelia EP. Both originals pulsate analog synth work over hard-hitting drums channeling the essence of the discotheque.

The EP is backed by remixes from Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht, Fausto, and Ali X. Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht are up first and take on the title track with a hypnotic, and industrial-tinged journey through the soundscapes of the original. Ali X is up next and gives Cimbalaria a bold and demented twist, perfect for when you need to take it there. Fausto offers a stripped-down version of Cimbalaria that sucks you in further to the psychedelic feel of the EP.

Brussels-based up-and-coming talent Ikaro Grati marks his Feines Tier debut with the four track SEARCH LANGUAGE EP. As Ikaro himself puts it, it’s „an euphonious exploration of the new generation, weaving together their hopes, dreams, challenges, and contradictions into a sonic tapestry“. And indeed, if this sound represents the new generation, then we’re in good hands! It’s diverse and sprawling, yet laser-focused in its production. Take the title track with its clear-cutting drum patterns, warm basslines and super-sharp lead sounds, the picture is clear, no smudge on the lense to distort our view. Or „Run Like A Child“ with its bouncing vocal samples and synth arpeggios creating a playful and whimsical vibe, „reflecting the vibe of hope and renewal“ as Ikaro himself puts it. „Social Syndrome“ gets more serious with pulsing 303s and dramatic string pads. Ikaro says „the track is about the pressure of the younger generation to be constantly connected and the social anxiety that can result“, for example by social media tending to create unrealistic expectations and feelings of inadequacy. The EP closes with the bangin’ „New Leaf Generation“, which alternates urging vocal loops with intense synth explorations. The tune culminates in a break introducing beautiful poly-synth chord progressions before throwing us back into the relentless groove of before. „This track evokes a sense of hope and optimism, as it describes a generation that is standing up for what they believe“ says Ikaro. Let’s celebrate them for that!

What's inside the head of a young kid who likes Radiohead, Vox Low, underground electronic music, and is an accomplished classically trained musician, multi-instrumentalist, and performer? A plethora of insight and knowledge. What shall be done with such gifts? Easy: Use a blender to combine every single influence amassed since childhood and end up making his/her/their own music.

Bobby Langfield, whose life story in a nutshell you have just read above, is the mastermind behind the brand-new UK-based Indie Dance project OBOST, and his debut EP is coming hot on NEIN Records at the dusk of the year. "I Don't Care For You" presents two interesting originals and two sturdy remixes made with love by none other than Fabrizio Mammarella and Tronik Youth (SXDNS050), the label honcho himself.

Premiered here, Maestro Mammarella's take of "I Don't Care For You" brings the original to the peak-time realm. The peculiar distortions and bouncing gait of the title track gave him necessary room to add his very own signature sonority with fatter and heavier elements which brought even more clout to the very first release of the aspiring artist.
