2001: Guillaume Atlan is nominated with 'Starlight' at the MTV Awards in the best French artists category. 20 years later, the first generation French Touch (Modjo, Demon, Cassius, Stardust, Etienne de Crécy etc.) is almost gone. Among the few still active, The Supermen Lovers, who will release his fourth studio album, 'Body Double', end of May.
A reference to Brian de Palma's film and its perfect plastic, the disc bears witness to the many artistic encounters and tumults of love that feed Guillaume during his trip to Kyiv from 2018 to 2020. Love can move mountains but can also destroy a man. Demons and emotions will make him go back to the studios, firstly in Kyiv, which reminds him of Paris in the 90s : strong energy, a thirst for discovery, creation and pure spontaneity. Straddling 2 musical bodies, the heart of Body Double balances between vocal electro-disco and clubbing, without forgetting this analog/digital jumble dear to Guillaume. Spontaneity unsettled her, she liked to know what her day had in store for her; her entire life come to think of it. She'd tried her hand at new experiences; leaving everything at the drop of a hat and taking off somewhere distant; donning a fresh haircut; trialling a different vocation or hobby - it didn't suit her though. Her preference was to have things mapped out for, that way there'd be no surprises. 

For over two decades Robi Insinna has been releasing music and helming Relish Recordings, his label indebted to off kilter post-punk, new wave and disco. Under his name, and his moniker Headman, he's crafted his own take on these sounds, largely underpinned by trademark bass lines and an analog rawness. These traits are all there on his new single, 'No Surprises', which is the first to be taken off his new LP. There's a nod to the sounds of 80's NYC through its machine funk aesthetic and raw synthesis, while on the flip there's a remix from Making Time and Optimo affiliates Zillas On Acid who steer the track down a dark chugging path.

Master Italo Brutalo (SXDNS091) is back on his very own Bungalo Disco with “Heartware”, a stunning 12-track synth extravaganza – originals only, by the way –, soon available on vinyl, cassette, and digital formats. An actual and definitive showcase of this true believer in the power of hardware samplers and analogue synthesizers, the album encompasses many of his most notable influences such as 80s Electro, Electronica, Disco, EBM, Techno, and of course, Italo Disco.

For those not familiar with his career, the first thing you need to know about Mr. Brutalo is that he is a complete artist when it comes to both DJing and producing. Watching one of his streams, for instance, is simply mesmerising not only because of his beautiful three-deck setup but also due to his killer turntablism skills – a forgotten format in the sync/rekordbox era. And amid his from here to eternity list of releases, some of his most noteworthy works appeared on vital labels such as Mozzarella Recordings, Days Of Being Wild, NEIN, Logical, Spa In Disco, Silhouette Music, Golden Soul, Nang, Emerald & Doreen, ESTHÉTIQUE, Espacio Cielo, and Bungalo Disco itself, just to name a few.

But let’s go back to “Heartware”, shall we? More specifically to this banger we were solicited to premiere: “Chemical Element” combines a pulsating Hi-NRG-infused bassline with minimalistic but frenzied Techno elements. The result is a peak-time beast devoted to wreaking havoc on the dance floor and teaching you basic Chemistry.

This VA is the sound that Bonkers represents, a sound to trip, to listen, to dance and to enjoy, now for year IV we have on board: Sobek, Colossio Feat Animales Nocturnos, Ludviq & Radial Gaze, Moisees & ZEA, ID_UA and Oblako Maranta.

To close this VA we have the honor to have, a new fresh and visionary project called Oblako Maranta (@oblakomaranta), is the fusion project between the Italian Producer A-Tweed (@antakaatweed) and the Russian producer Radial Gaze (@radialgaze). “Viper Attack” is special track ,weird, slow and raver, with psychedelic nuances, definitely a trippy journey.
