The tyres let out a harsh screech as she pushed her foot down hard on the accelerator; she needed to get out of here, and quickly. The car lurched forward into the street and she was away, gradually getting faster and faster, her eyes fixated on her mirror to check whether they were on her tail yet. She was free for now but until she made it out of this godforsaken town, she knew she wasn't safe.

For his newest project, 'Next Wave Acid Punx', Berlin-based DJ and producer Curses brings together artists—past, present and future—for a celebration of his formative influences: new wave, EBM, post-punk and new beat. Released in three parts on Eskimo Recordings, the mammoth compilation features music from artists championing these sounds back in the 80s, like Yello, Front 242 and Suicide, to Curses' contemporaries, including Juan Maclean, Pablo Bozzi, Local Suicide, Skelesys and many more, who continue to draw inspiration from these early sonics.

The latest signing on Iptamenos Discos is the stunning debut EP by Dina Summer that features remixes by Black Light Smoke, Wiener Planquadrat & Time To Sleep. Fronted by Greek native Dina P., ‚Dina Summer’ is a collaborative band project by the producer Kalipo and the DJ/producer couple Local Suicide. 
After performing on local radio stations as a teenager, Dina began making waves as one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki while also pursuing her studies at University. She later moved to Berlin where she met her husband with whom she formed the duo Local Suicide. The powerhouse has made a name for themselves releasing on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire, Ombra INTL, TAU & more. Through their exploits, Beatport declared them as one of the key figures in the uprising dark disco scene. Around 2013 they met Bavarian born Kalipo while raving at Rock am Ring festival. At the time he was performing at the festival with his band, Frittenbude who are famous in German speaking countries for their unique mix of electro, punk & rap. Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records which features artists such as Rampue, Ira Atari Oberst & Buchner & more.
It wasn’t until 2019 that the trio finally starting working on music together. The result was a unique blend of late ‘90s electro with elements of ’80s disco and new wave. 
Their first outing ‘Who Am I’ is a new wave / disco-hymn consisting of German & English vocals. They’re accompanied by stomping drums and a beautiful synthesised melody laid over a synth-arp that maintains the tracks momentum. 
The Club Version of ‘Who Am I’ is slightly faster and hits a little harder. In this track one can clearly hear the trio’s infamous ‘technodisco’ sound at work. The drums still stomp but with more depth and the synth-arp has a more rugged texture when compared to that of the original version.
The B-Side, titled ‘Fortune Teller’, is a groovy dance-floor bomb with nasty moroder-ish bass-arps, epic strings, spoken word elements and a slick breakdown followed by a banging and cascading drop that sucks in and hypnotises listeners.
Legendary US producer & composer Jordan Lieb aka Black Light Smoke’s take on ‘Fortune Teller’ turns the tune into a deep electro weapon with a wobbling bass-lines that ride perfectly with the drums and groovy synths. The glitchy vocals and the ominous sound of the strings give this track an awesomely dark atmosphere. 
Austrian duo Wiener Planquadrat – who recently released their debut single ‘Stillstand’ on Iptamenos Discos – transform ‘Who Am I’ into a masterpiece reminiscent of Soulwax’s iconic sound. This is emphasised by the dirty and bouncy groove, rugged tones and drums that are sure to make your body snap along with them. 
Croatian producer Time To Sleep, who recently released tracks on Disco Halal, Permanent Vacation & more, delivers a glitchy 128BPM dub techno re-interpretation of Fortune Teller with driving drums and a rolling bass-line that doesn’t let up. It’s filled with warm reverb filled percussion and an ethereal synth lead mid way through that makes you feel as though you’re floating while rounding off the EP

Berlin based power duo Local Suicide announce their long-awaited debut album ‘Eros Anikate’ released on their label Iptamenos Discos on May 13th, 2022. The title translates to ‘love invincible’ and draws influence from Sophocles’ play, ‘Antigone’ - an ancient Greek play based around tragedy in the aftermath of a civil war. ‘Eros Anikate’ will showcase the duo's renowned ‘technodisco’ sound, blending retro with modern elements, alongside moody baselines and haunting vocals, whilst featuring an array of exciting collaborators and friends including Curses, Hard Ton, Skelesys, Lee Stevens, The Hidden Cameras, Sissi Rada, Theus Mago, Kalipo, and Greek new wave legend Lena Platonos. 

 ‘Moustache’ , the third single taken from the album is a collaboration of Local Suicide with their longtime collaborator and friend, Buenos Aires native Skelesys. Sharing a love for the darker sounds you’d find in horror films and computer simulations, the 4/4 kick drum and woodwind like sounds manipulated into a frenzy bring us a rather interesting juxtaposition of playful horror.  

“This one started off as a hymn to Dali, but ended up being a love letter to a dude with a ‘stache”.  

While the track crescendos into an ominous buildup of synths that continue to mesmerise you, the famous Vamparela vocals are the perfect surrealist playground that Dali himself would be proud of. Contrasting the playful with the serious, this track is the perfect oxymoron with post-punk and EBM madness, of which we’d expect nothing less from the two acts coming together.  

‘Eros Anikate’ will be released on Vinyl, CD and digitally on Iptamenos Discos on 13th May 2022.

Following the success of their debut album, 'Eros Anikate', Berlin-based DJ and Producer couple Local Suicide return with the first of four remix EPs for their release, each named after an ancient Greek god.

'Eros Anikate - Adonis Remixes' is a 5-track EP featuring remixes for 'High Buildings w/ Lee Stevens', 'Whispering w/Curses', and 'Hercules Adonis'.

The EP opens with a remix of 'High Buildings' from the German cold wave band Die Selektion. The band, formed in 2010 from another experimental post-punk project, draws influences from new wave, orchestra, techno and 80s synth pop, creating a unique blend of styles that is both melancholic and danceable. Their use of the trumpet and deliberate choice of German-language texts sets them apart from other bands in the genre, earning them success in Germany and beyond. Their remix of 'High Buildings' is a faster, grittier and more aggressive rework of the original, contrasting punk style vocals and harsh, saw bass lines with the soft ambiences and vocals of the original track.

The EP will be released on digital and vinyl formats via their Iptamenos Discos imprint on September 16th, 2022.

Yasmin Gate - Lips Feat Douglas McCarthy - Nomenklatür Remix

Lille based French duo Kimshies most recent release on AEON came by way of their dramatic remix of Alex Niggemann’s own ‘Rise Of The Machines’ which they did as part of the recent charity compilation initiative which raised money for the COVID19 relief fund. So impressed were they by the mix AEON quickly snapped Kimshies up for a full EP.

Lead track ‘Echwerki' feat the vocals of Anja Sugar is a menacing sound clash, with a driving electro baseline melded with rock guitars and the insistent vocal delivery of Sugar which is sure to be filled in peak time record boxes. 'Sexual Desire' feat S//Rose on vocals is a more down tempo affair, whilst still retaining Kimshies powerful production style, and twisted vibe, whilst the third track on the EP ‘Jelly Bellies’ leans again on live sounding guitars and spoken word to deliver some hypnotic magic to the proceedings.
To complete the EP AEON have called on the sublime skills of Running Back regular Alan Dixon. Dixon takes on ‘Sexual Desire’ and takes the record more into Italo Disco territory to take things in a more upbeat direction. euphoric pianos and a relentless groove to die for are the order of the day here to complete what is another super strong package from Team AEON.
