The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Skelesys. Ombra International returns with a killer V.A, featuring 6 excellent tracks from Birds, Jorkes & Nikkname, Skelesys, Silicodisco & Alvaro Cabana, Ducati Flux and NAUFRAGI, presenting a fresh take on sounds influenced by new beat, dark wave, post-punk and new wave. We premiere today “The Scorpion Sting", an immersive dark wave bomb incorporating Skelesys’ enigmatic vocals and guitar. This is another stellar release from the label and we look forward to more.

The tyres let out a harsh screech as she pushed her foot down hard on the accelerator; she needed to get out of here, and quickly. The car lurched forward into the street and she was away, gradually getting faster and faster, her eyes fixated on her mirror to check whether they were on her tail yet. She was free for now but until she made it out of this godforsaken town, she knew she wasn't safe.

For his newest project, 'Next Wave Acid Punx', Berlin-based DJ and producer Curses brings together artists—past, present and future—for a celebration of his formative influences: new wave, EBM, post-punk and new beat. Released in three parts on Eskimo Recordings, the mammoth compilation features music from artists championing these sounds back in the 80s, like Yello, Front 242 and Suicide, to Curses' contemporaries, including Juan Maclean, Pablo Bozzi, Local Suicide, Skelesys and many more, who continue to draw inspiration from these early sonics.

From passion and friendship was born @nouveaufutur
@neurotiker and @betty-b-69  are passionate about music, and their influences come from the 80’s.
Night owls, as they both describe themselves best. Their similar interest in music led them to collaborate by founding Nouveau Futur. Despite the distance that separates them as Neurotiker is based in Rio de Janeiro in, Brazil and Betty in Lyon in, France.

DJ since 1999, Neurotiker has developed his own style of music production, that ranges from techno to disco always with a retro feel to his music. He produced music since 2010 on labels such as Ritmo Fatale, Mélopée Records, Weirdos Records, Ulla Records, Polari Records...
He’s also founding his own label, OGIO Records.

Betty worked in the night life from the end of the 80's until 2005 in the trendiest clubs and bars of Lyon, as barmaid, party organizer, or bar manager. In 1995, she moved behind the decks and learnt to mix on vinyl. Even after leaving the night life, she returned to mixing utilizing the new
technological tools. She delivers club-oriented dance mixes tinged with indiedance and dark disco, while adding some new wave.

PREMIERE: Novi Sad - M.S.K (Curses Dub)

In sheer rapture, Riotvan hereby announces... Curses, the most classy and charming prince of darkness that contemporary dance music has to offer, is debuting on the label with a new release. 

We’ve seen him on remix duties for New Hook recently. Still, here we find him submitting two originals, crafted with his regular companion, Dame Bonnet, on the bass and showcasing a rather tender sentiment within the signore’s emotional spectrum. 'Premonitions' aligns bass-driven Postpunk-verve with blissful synths and an overall romantic tuning that Human League or Tears For Fears would’ve sold some close relatives to achieve. 

'Salvation', on the other hand, builds a somewhat meditative, almost IDM-like grounding, on top of which Curses practices a head-spinning Talkbox-exorcism.

Exclusive remix of Los Angeles and Bologna based Nuovo Testamento's Heartbeat by Curses himself! Taken from the band's 2023 album Love Lines, Heartbeat - in its original form a shimmering italo synth pop number, part Danceteria-era Madonna, part Yazoo - has been ruthlessly retooled here by Curses for strobe lit sweatboxes. Shifting the emphasis from its sparkling synths and pop melody towards the rhythm section, the track's synth bass now dominates the track just as its martial kick drums and gated snares push us deeper into EBM territory.

‘Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX’ is a return to the dark romantic of the past, present and future. An undying passion for all things post-punk/wave/body music and beyond. Release date: October 20th. 2023

Taking us on a sleazy, strobe lit tour of the darker corners of clubland Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX is the second compilation curated for Eskimo Recordings by Luca Venezia, aka Curses. Threading the needle between early industrial, EBM, post-punk experiments and some of the most exciting music being made today, the 49 track compilation also features some of Luca's own exclusive remixes such as his 'Revamp' of New Beat classic J.W.B. Hits The Beat's 'Body On Body'.

Originally released back in 1987, Curses' remix brings the track right up date, pushing the tempo and toughening up the drums whilst stripping it back down to focus on the portentous choral synth pads and teasing us with its ecstatic vocal samples before the effervescent Italo melody brings it all together. A perfect synthesis of past and present, much like the compilation it's taken from.

One of the compilations of 2023 Curses' Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX saw the Berlin-based Musician and DJ explore the darker side of club music. Bringing together 49 tracks that joined the dots between early industrial pioneers, EBM legends and post-punk bands with some of the most exciting artists around today this was a celebration of the kind of raw electronic music best performed live in smoke filled clubs.

One might suspect that between this and the first equally acclaimed, and substantial, Next Wave Acid Punx album clubland's gothic vaults might be eerily empty. But, just as every good live act knows, you should hold something special back for an encore, and so Curses is back with Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX - Secret Cuts, 11 bonus tracks that all deserve their own moment in the strobe light.

"Curating Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX was a big puzzle," explains Curses. "Figuring out how to fit all these tracks across 6 different 12"s required a lot of calculations and, to be quite frank, I was never that great at maths. Unfortunately this meant we had to cut some real heaters off of DEUX. But Eskimo and I decided that we couldn't let these gems go to dust. I've been DJing them loads in my sets, so it was only fair to share them with y’all to DJ and rage to yourselves. So, here it is... the final blast of bonus tracks for Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX: Secret Cuts."
