The second edition to the People & Places catalog is brought to us by Shjva, a Ukranian artist who has caught the attention of many over the last couple of years through a stream of self-released projects and additions to some of the most revered new labels across the scene.

Shjva’s s story continues on People & Place with her signature deep grooves that subtly transfix the listener. Northern Lights is a 3-track EP, lying on the peripheries of Trance, Acid, and Techno.

Some of our DJ friends are part of the Port Frankivsk voluntary organisation, dedicating themselves to volunteering from the beginning of the war. Subject To Restrictions Discs presents "Abisso" by Tagliabue. Inspired by the immeasurable depths of the abyss, the Milanese DJ and producer creates a dense and intense soundscape that evokes images of a submerged world of cosmic frequencies.

Prepare to dive into "Abisso", the latest sonic creation by the talented Joseph Tagliabue. An EP that defies the ordinary and captures attention from the very first moment, "Abisso" is a musical journey through four unreleased and completely different tracks. A1 explodes with the power of a half-time bomb, Joseph's trademark, while B1 amazes with a thrilling break that transforms into a progressive shaker perfect for the dancefloor. B2 restarts with another eruption of broken techno energy, and the EP closes with a post-peak-time electronic mantra that hypnotizes the listener in a suspended dimension. "Abisso" is a work that leaves no one indifferent, a sonic experience to be lived and carried away by.

Joseph Tagliabue has made a name for himself by releasing crystal clear, but no less grounded electronic music that is as contemporary as it gets. While combining elements of ambient and trance with experimental electronic techniques, he's able to blur genre-boundaries and offers refined, suggestive and always different emotions, without ever giving up his own musical identity. He sped down the freeway, the wild west on all four sides. The heat was blazing down upon no mans land from up above as he drove ever faster into the setting sun.

In the distance he could see the horizon, the end was in sight. Was he being entirely reasonable? Were his intentions pure?

Probably not. But as the car whizzed towards the cliff edge like some sort of extra from Thelma and Lousie, he cared little but for his decisions.

Touch Sensitive are set to release a record from Autumns, who once again channels leftfield experimentation into a bass tinged new album for the label.

Bologna’s Random Numbers unveils the ‘You Are Dreaming! (Remixes) of La Serpiente this June, featuring Elena Colombi, BXP, Big Hands, Front de Cadeaux and Wang Inc. on remix duties.

The Italian Random Numbers imprint has become synonymous with boundary breaking, left of centre sounds since 2014, launched by BXP and White Raven who regularly feature on the label, it also showcases a wide variety of experimental Italian artists and others beyond across the globe. Often embracing the resurgence of the cassette format as well as vinyl and digital. Here the label shines a light on Amsterdam via Milano artist La Serpiente aka Marco Segato who makes a welcome return to the label and has also featured his mystical, post-industrial leaning works on the likes of brokntoys, XCPT, Dionysian Mysteries and Sons Of Traders among others.

Opening this remix package of ‘You Are Dreaming!’ is the acid-laced, slowly unfurling psychedelic original, followed by Front De Cadeaux’ percussive focused rework.

Label co-founder BXP then opens the B-Side, turning in a mind-altering interpretation fuelled by modulating synth whirrs, shuffled drums and bumpy bass hits. 

The ‘Big Hands Remix’ then ups the tempo, embracing a more off-kilter Techno feel employing the originals hypnotic chimes with skippy drums and fluttering resonant licks before Elena Colombi induces a dreamy, trance like state via fluttering bells, haunting voices and elongated bass drones. 

Lastly as a digital bonus, Wang Inc. turns in the final remix, a fourteen minute tribal-tinged journey through organic rhythms, oscillating synth lines and fragments of the original composition.

After Denzel’s debut EP ‘Techniques 4 Life’, the quest for finding those approaches continues. The Helsinki night owl draws from a range of influences here on his sophomore EP ‘Glorified Intake’, leading things into a murkier territory than his previous, with tracks made during a transitional period between two cities, H & B.

The first track HKI 13 is an ode to roots. The track is held together by a swerving astral arpeggio combined with chants from a village dance off and stabs that liken to that one Balearic house anthem… The Sun is well on its way below. 

Nightrun reduces things to a darker core, howling into the night, embodying a state rather than telling a story. Time goes by, how is it already tomorrow? An after hours tune with a bassline for a hook. Doesn’t get much sleazier than that. Getting down, getting low. 

On the flipside, we’ve made it to the beginning of the end, phased out the doubts and gathered up the strength to go on — things are looking brighter. A voice inside your head — trust only yourself. 

Finally on the last stretch, light has subsided and darkness has landed once again. We’ve thrown out any notion of what, where and who. Those things don’t matter anymore: we’ve perfected “the state”. It’s go time.

Dark, deep and trippy; Ukrainian producer shjva takes us on a voyage to the centre of reality.

A mysterious craft drifts dormant through the void. Glitchy breaks and twinkly synths blink into motion as systems initialise, preparing for the final approach to the Metazone.

Polycaste engines throb in the background whilst control panels bleep rhythmically, trippy arps ensue.

The craft lurches into motion, astral synths flash by the viewing port as the bassline sunders reality. You Must Let it Go.

Final approach to the Metazone, Eversines remix. Instruments spin and bleepy wildly. Dark 303s distort spacetime. The craft grinds to a halt.

We have arrived.

Our VTD digital series seems to have naturally gravitated towards darker tones more suited for the late night, and we’re really happy to continue that theme with this this release which is deep, trippy and cerebral in equal parts.
