The first X-Kalay release of 2022 finds Melbourne’s Escape Artist traversing wormholes, complete with an assist from the ever-prolific Roza Terenzi.

Picking up where a 2019 Salt Mines debut left off, ‘Wanna Dance’ allows proggy tendencies to flourish across some mind-altering electro. Portals to higher planes of consciousness and uncharted star systems fling open as widescreen, celestial pads make way for lysergic climax.

Ramping up the intensity with her ‘Bassbin Mix’, Roza Terenzi jumps on remix duties; another electro workout, but this time more urgent, more propulsive. Bringing the tribal-breakbeat pressure in spades, it’s quintessential Terenzi.

More prog, but leaning further towards cosmic techno percolation, ‘Levitator’ finds mazy arpeggios in seemingly infinite ascent. ‘Time Knife’, on the other hand, is a radiant, beatless highlight. Deploying cascading synth arps to truly mesmeric effect, it sees the Antipodean achieve sublime tension in a rare moment of introspection.

A1 explodes with the power of a half-time bomb, Joseph's trademark, while B1 amazes with a thrilling break that transforms into a progressive shaker perfect for the dancefloor. Joseph Tagliabue has made a name for himself by releasing crystal clear, but no less grounded electronic music that is as contemporary as it gets. While combining elements of ambient and trance with experimental electronic techniques, he's able to blur genre-boundaries and offers refined, suggestive and always different emotions, without ever giving up his own musical identity. Sindh is back on his own imprint and introduce the 'Komudo Series' focuses on mind and body movement. Still infused into tribalism and rituals, this first opus composed by four original tracks merges subttle darkness and evolving alien textures with strong grooves. 'Akureh' kicks off its menacing low ends and warped bass that never lets up, 'Quake' suspends you amongst fluttering snares and drawn out whistles over linear beats and 'Liquefaction then gets more gritty with dirty loops and plenty of tension before 'Swarms' shuts down with a more thumping deep techno sound.

We’re back with GNC Record’s digital series with a split EP from Omen and Intruso, producers and colleagues based in Barcelona. ‘Explosiones Programadas’ is made of a combination of peaktime heavy hitters and deep timeless after hours tracks, that captivate the dancefloor through ascending mental sounds that disintegrate, leaving space for something new to emerge, insisting that calmness and chaos are not always in conflict and that they can coexist as parts of the same universe.

The release begins with two tracks from Intruso, the first one brings resonant synthesizers and immersive atmospheres that are ideal for a peaktime moment at the club. The second one, a collaboration with Ludviq, has broken rhythms, unexpected turns and rogue synths which generate a state of metallic trance, building up upon the previous track.

The narrative continues with three tracks from Omen, the first one with a higher tempo and powerful breakbeats, along with deep sounds and hypnotic vocals that tell the dancefloor to remain calm, overlapping harmonically with the intense drum patterns. The second track goes even deeper, with a timeless downtempo groove that blends itself with reverberating atmospheres and looped samples that disintegrate themselves, leaving space for new sounds to surface. Finally, the EP comes to an end with house drum patterns and spontaneous one-shots, building up intensity again and leaving the dancefloor just on point for the session to continue.
