For this edition of the L.I.E.S. artist podcast series we welcome the one and only Willie Burns. Also known as William Thomas Burnett, bossman of W.T. Records, Burnett is a veteran of the game as he's been deep behind enemy lines for a long long time. If you're looking, you can usually find Burnett deep in the basement of The Thing, the largest used record store in all of NYC or in his studio down the block working late into the night as he sips a bottle of moderately priced red wine. 

Never one to follow the trends, here we have Burnett mixing almost an hours worth of what he describes as "early street techno trance" a genre which undoubtedly has been now brought to the forefront from his days digging in the basement of the Thing. Done in one take, it's wild breakbeat driven, trance-laden trip as the author suggested, so get ready to take a pill and throw your hands in the air.

Tronic’s next release is featuring label head’s Christian Smith’s second remix pack. The duties to remix “Mutate” are upon the groovy Kaiserdisco boys which have manage to create a funky version of the track, it will keep you moving. Sub bass, stomping drums and leading arpeggiated synth lines. The great Dosem is at it on the second remix. “Who You Are” is a banging, rolling, dance-heavy track with an 80’s synth long the way, pure excellence. The third piece of the EP is a rework of Christian’s track “Motor” from Dave Angel, this is the bass leading – 6 a.m monster piece of the pack, ace melodies, big synths and a sense of placidity.

Now in their spare time the boys have been honing their talents as remixers, with many labels singling them out for their signature swaggering sound. Meanwhile in the DJ booth the Marvin and Guy have been taking their talents global, their ability to spin through from disco to techno setting tongues to talking and hips to shaking. It's a perfect time that they are on the show - very soon duo will be releasing another EP, this time on Correspondant, with 3 heavy hitters which are definitely going to become new hits in no time. Don't expect the usual vibes from them on this mix for Serial Experiments though, as this contains more reggae flavored inspirations and true experiments inside rather than straight dance music.
