this was recorded some years ago, in one spontaneous nightshift. we didn´t know what the "bbc essential radioshow" was and we thought we could always deliver this mix whenever, it wouldn´t matter. then we got that emergency call at night - and we needed to deliver until next morning. so we did. one take. all vinyl. no postproduction and we are still exited and very proud of it. still sounds like mandy. thanx to FLOOR⁴ #F2t4 who found this recording and sent it to us - cause it´s nowhere else in the net.

For the past two years, every friday between 7-9 pm CET, I broadcasted two hours of electronic music mixed with obscurities and club classics from the past four decades, on Danish national radio station DR P6 Beat.

Dec 27th 2013 was the final show and I decided to play some personal favorites of 2013 and then share the clean mixes without my Danish jibberish and show jingles, right here on my Soundcloud.

Solid Hearts Mix

Los Angeles has played encouraging parent to a growing beat scene for almost a decade. What started with the likes of Ras G has since sifted into the weighty FlyLo/Brainfeeder generation and out the other side. @Soulection are the latest family curating a set of releases high on feeling and emotion. Tentatively started in 2010 as a music/culture blog by Joe Kay and 96, it eventually blossomed into a radio show and platform for free flowing instrumental concepts. The ethos was simple. To collate a stream of what the world offered within the boundaries of their soulful DNA.  So despite how cavernous the internet can be, they’ve moulded themselves into a culture ripe with vibrancy and consistently exciting music. We got Joe Kay to put together half an hour’s worth of soul food for you to munch through this weekend.

Volte-Face is the production name of Casper Clark, the man behind BleeD, London's go-to club night for experimental electronic music. Casper has also played an integral role in programming of London's more intimate and experimental venues, such as The Lock Tavern in Camden, Amersham Arms in New Cross and The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington, which thanks to him Inverted Audio hosted events in during 2012 and 2013.

Casper also helps curate music for an array of music festivals including Field Day, Beacons in Yorkshire, Donau in Austria and Unsound in Poland, he also helms London's experimental category for 22Tracks. Now in his second year operating as Volte-Face, it seems that 2014 has ultimately primed to produce a remix for Daniel Avery to be release on Erol Alkan's imprint Phantasy Sound.

It seems that 2014 has been 'the' year in which everything that Casper has worked for has been worth it. This mix is a summation of Volte-Face's musical scope and integrity, offering up a hour and a half of his past. Volte-Face has more material to be released in 2015.

Ah Mick Wills, Mick The Machine, Mick the Teutonic Grail Knight, who in the pale shadows of Hölderlin and Von Schelling embodies the dark Romanticist Wanderlust, the inescapable forces of nature that wash away your sins only to replace them with an impending emptiness amidst the fleeting forest spirits and dervishes that inhabit the German Hinterland. Over the years we've seen Mick perfect his craft, seen him play to the point where he thought he had a heart attack and seen him race his chip tuned Audi all over ze European Autobahn to spread his obscurantist but pressing oddities to crowds of perplexed but easily submitted youngsters. As per usual, Mick doesn't just spin records, but like that *select* few, Mick describes his sets as "SESSIONS". As some of you may know, in my day job I'm a journalist and author. Recently, I wrote an in-depth article about the origins, history and legacy of the often overlooked style called "bleep and bass", or simply "bleep". I thought this was be a good excuse to re-upload a mix I did back in 2010 for Hivemind.fm, joining the dots between original bleep records and those that have come since that were in some way inspired by the style. Since compiling this I have many more records in the style, and I'd probably do it differently if I was mixing it now, but hopefully it gives a good introduction to the sound.

What a year it's been! This was definitely our year; we put in so much work the past 3 years to set ourselves up for the future and  we wouldn't be here without you. There were so many great releases, tracks, new artists who emerged that it is literally impossible to cover everyone. I went through all of my playlists from this whole year by each month and compiled 220+ tracks. But I was only able to get through 103 tracks. Don't be mad if you were an artist who  had a lot of play on our radio show this year and didn't make the cut... it has nothing to do with it not being good enough.. it was more about just the flow and vibe of this session. 

This isn't your typical best of session where we go in order by EP,s albums, artists.. it's just a freestyle.. no favoritism.. everyone is winning; SOULECTION STYLE!

This is a Special DJ mix for the celebration of 10 years of SQUADRON the hottest party/club from the small micro state island of Malta! 

Malta are a bunch of little mini micro islands (well 3 of them of which only 2 are populated) in the south mediteranian sea close to Libya and a few hours underneath Sicily. Its basically a giant dusty rock with a lot of windy roads and houses, national parks are about the size of my back garden (for real!), main export products are potatoes and playmobil and there are a bunch of mysterious things like ancient neolythic ruins (some scholars say Malta was ATLANTIS!) and it has to do something with the knights templar.

But the most coolest and striking fact of this little proud and fierce Island state is that it has the most concentrated percentage of devoted west coast Bunker/Creme fans in the world! We are not big in Japan but big in Malta…even the local butcher would use my track Chockolektrik in its TV commercials we are talking that big yeah…..and we have absolutely no idea why…do the Maltese have exquisite taste in music??? Is Squadron doing a good job with promoting??? Do we just make frequencies Maltese like??? is it a cosmical random event that just happens??!? who knows!??!?!

For 10 years every other year I visited this island to play at Squadron's spectacular parties with the likes of DJ TLR, Orgue Electronique, Luke Eargoggle, DJ Kafka, Bangkok Impact, Juan Atkins, Rolando etc.etc.etc. so I say Happy birthday & Congratulations Karl, Rudi, Kevin and all the others to another 10 years!
