A painful listen for me (but no less enjoyable). I’ve found that whenever I‘ve encountered a life crisis, it’s reading D&G that has helped the most. This reminds me of what Mari Ruti literally calls her Lacanian Mantra: “you’re always-already castrated; subjectivity equals castration; learn to live with your lack; embrace the negativity that’s in you; mastery is a fantasy.” This mantra is certainly an example of contradiction at work (after all, even if mastery is a fantasy, relying on a mantra to mitigate the trauma of castration implies an attempt to master castration). But I think Deleuze’s reply to this is in his Nietzsche book, where he claims that the dialectic is a labour (a mantra would be one example of labour), whereas the Nietzschean alternative, empiricism, is a form of enjoyment. But not only that - empiricism leads to deeper and more affective (and effective, I think) forms of acting and thinking. Anyway, as always, looking forward to the next episode.

Some questions & comments about your treatment of D&G: Regarding the family as the first social structure (around minute 18), don't they some time in AO showing that the family structure is not, by itself, a mini social structure but must connect with a system of alliance precisely because of the excessiveness of desire (3.2 – The Primitive Territorial Machine)? Do you think D&G would call psychoanalysis more fascistic or totalitarian? They do differentiate between the two in 1kp (230) as the difference between the the multiplicity of the war machine & the despotic overcoding State. Isn't psychoanalysis on the side of the second? In fact, they seem to agree with Ryan that fascism is rhizomatic! Not reterritorialized (229) but a line of flight transformed into pure destruction.

@real-ghosts-132761865: Losing the importance of individuation results in a strawman viewpoint that gets it half right: there is no lack in the multiplicity but it's not like and multiples can just regroup at will. An arm cant just fall off and do its own thing (minute 47) — unless it is the result of a real (not impossible) morphogenic process that allow it to do that, e.g. an octopus. Of course, the octopus can regrow an arm but the arm can't regrow the octopus. I know you both like to see a theory of psychoanalysis stand on its own, and disagree with e.g. Lacan's turn to mathemes, but it is hard to talk about D&G while sticking to that register b/c they are trying to explicate its existence & operation (a noumenology as opposed to a phenomenology).

Isnt one way of reading Freud with rather than against Lacan to understabs the family as the interpolation of the individual into the collective, in the same way as (following Mladen Dolar) the unconcious itself

This goes back to your critique of the reverse classroom - the leader is produced by the crowd 

I think they were wrong in identifying Desiring-Production as Capitalism. Capital is a Socius: a kind of Body w/o Organs that falls back on (se rabat sur) its machines: Antiproduction. Desiring-Production is a flow, whereas Capital is a BwO.

have you read AO?  you profoundly misunderstand the role of the unconscious and the nature of desiring-machines, among many other things.  really uncharitable and poorly-read synopsis of this book.

you should ask someone like Taylor Adkins (translator of Guattari's works) or Levi Bryant (https://larvalsubjects.wordpress.com, Lacanian psychoanalysts who wrote a book on Deleuze's transcendental empiricism and gives lectures on DG) on the show. Someone who would answer your questions (for example about univocity-multiplicity contradiction) and straightened your misreadings.
