I was thinking you would never get to Force and Understanding, so at least you made it, although I was hoping for a discussion of the "inverted world."

How about this: if axioms are eternal and unchanging as we have traditionally understood them, Hegel is indeed philosophizing without any axioms, but not doing away them. Instead he thinks of them in the context of becoming, not being. In this context, axioms are not self-identical propositions ontological separate from their negation, but contain their negation as a moment internal to their articulation. They are, in effect,  "different from themselves," always becoming other than themselves. In other words, a (dialectical) concept of axiom that does away with (traditional, static) axioms emerges.  So maybe both of you were right? Hegel’s axiom’s both are and are not axioms. If so,  Hegel’s point would be that axioms are “posited” (setzung), but do not exist in a traditional sense. This all sounds great, but isn’t something like “all knowledge is the result of a process of determinate negation” axiomatic for Hegel?

Hey, if you guys are serious about going through the phenomenology could you recommend a translation and/or reveal which translation you will be using? I might read along.
