With its fourth catalogue number, Steinlach returns to the vinyl format with a remix EP. On board are international friends of the label, who layed hands on Wice’s originals with outstanding re-interpretations. While the A-side contains two groovy and club-oriented remixes of ‚Just kiddin‘‘, the trippy flipside focuses on the second outcome of the label and refers to the two pieces ‚Absent‘ and ‚Hertz‘. 
The record opens with a fast-paced and jacking ‚Just Kiddin‘‘ version by Deep’a and Biri. The two guys from Tel Aviv re-interprate the clubby aspect of the piece, furnish it with a portion of percussions and accompany it with a volatile beat. Discharging the track in a big bang, they‘re leaving the listener with no chance but to move energetically to the groove patterns while cherishing the original lead melody.
Just like Deep’a and Biri, Jon Hester bets on the energy and the recognition value of the original synth line. As typical for Jon, he gives a more Chicago-style housy and bouncy touch to the composition. The lead is getting chopped, re-interpreted and re-arranged into a new groove and melody pattern, sure to inspire the floor to shake and to catapult everyone around into a frisky dancing mood. Suddenly, the well-known arpeggio of the original comes in and makes for the climax of this brilliant remix.
With side B, the club aspect of the record might not be left behind, but moved into more stripped and trippy terrains. The B1 track is fashioned as a ruthless ‚Absent‘ version, unmistakingly having Refracted’s writing all over it. Smallest variations of the synth line, drones, and pads, without resorting to typical drum rack aspects, find their way deep inside the listener’s head, and draw them into their subtle rhythm. The unapolegetic roughness of the interpretation is striking and makes it a brilliant peaktime weapon.
Rounding up the whole EP, the last remix of the record is a wonderful re-interpretation by the talented Australian that is Mosam Howieson. He ministered to Wice‘s personal favourite piece and crafted a loving and deep version of ‚Hertz‘, which translates the magic of the original into own words and emotions, adds a subtle groove to it, then invites to listen more carefully. One quickly dives into a hopeful world in which a certain magic seems to be present, and where everything seems to be alright. Be it as a perfect last piece after a long fullfilling evening, or as the outstanding means to make the sun rise in the morning—Mosam’s interpretation sure hits the spot.

Deep'a & Biri, are among the most promising talents emerging from the electronic scene of Tel Aviv.
                
Lately they have been releasing tracks on top labels like: 
Transmat Detroit / Gigolo Records / Rotary Cocktail / We Love (Space Ibiza) and their own label "Black Crow"
Most of the tracks are getting played all over by some of the top artist of techno & house music.

Deep'a is a key figure in Tel Aviv’s night life both as a dj and as a A&R For Tel Aviv's Cutting Edge Clubs. 
For the past 15 years,he had a significant part in re-building the young techno and house scene of tel aviv.

Biri is a young producer from the city of Jerusalem. Itai started his journey into electronic music at the early age of 14, and after a few years later the kid already holds an impressive producing & dj skills with a wide range between loopy techno till Chicago House and Detroit classic Sounds.

In 2013 the boys released their first album on Dj Hell - Gigolo Records and Joined Derrick May Transmat Booking agency, Derrick has been supporting Deep'a & Biri music for few years and since 2014 they are part of the label nights taking place in some of the best clubs in the world. (Rex/Paris, Panoramabar/Berlin, Paradiso/Amsterdam ,Bloc off Sonar/Barcelona, Concrete/Paris).

With their tracks currently being played and charted by some of the scene's most respected DJs, the industry is taking notice of Biri & Deepa's talent; the young Israeli artists are on their way to establish themselves as one of the main producers coming from the turbulent Israeli scene.

After the first transitions were played in 2008 and the first steps in music production were taken in 2009, Wice developed an unprecedented love for sound, polyrhythm and frequency. More and more it turned out – retrospectively – that this sonic relationship was the perfect means for Wice to subjectively channel his innermost, to introspectively surrender to sound and texture, and to work towards the eventual moment at which he could say: ‘Cool, now I finally have the technical means to externalize all that doesn’t want to be said, merely through frequencies.’ Driven by the insight that there always will be more steps to climb, Wice had to acknowledge that this kind of music will accompany him for a lifetime. In 2017 he finally decided to start his own label ‘Steinlach’ with his good friend Ingo and Wice’s first solo record ‘Hedonism’ was released. Although achieving international success with this release had not been the intended goal, things fortunately turned out differently: Throughout 2017, the track ‘Just Kiddin” was played almost every weekend in well-known clubs and at reputable festivals around the world. With it, Wice even won a golden ‘Raving Spoon’ in the category ‘The Perfect Tracks’. Further releases on Shlomi Aber’s ‘Be As One’, Darko Essers/Tripeo’s ‘Wolfskuil’, Deepa’ and Biri’s ‘Black Crow’ as well as on the in-house label Steinlach followed. The affiliated digital-only sublabel ‘Weisse Elster’ was launched in 2021 with the EP ‘Ape Layers’. WEL002 (‘Seragard’) followed in March 2022. CAT No.003 & 004 are already scheduled for this years late summer respectively winter.

Hailing from the Midwest US, Jon Hester is an embodiment of the movements, sounds, and attitude that have continued to push techno and house forward. His energy and enthusiasm brought him all the way from beginnings in Chicago and Minneapolis to his present home base of Berlin.

With music released on Rekids, Klockworks, Deeply Rooted, and performances worldwide at clubbing institutions such as Berghain Berlin, Rex Club Paris, fabric London, and Vent Tokyo, he is equally keen for the fresh intensity of newer clubs dotting South America and South Africa. Jon continues building on the very expression he connected with more than 25 years ago via his label, Participation, an outlet for his own output as well as collaborative efforts with fellow artists in the global techno and house community. The collaborations are realized through a reciprocal exchange of sketches between artists, with artwork consisting of a simple one-line drawing from Hester himself – underscoring the directness, honesty, and immediacy of the music presented.
 
Participation launched in October 2023 with a solo EP from Hester, followed by collaborations with Panorama Bar favorite Cassy, Madrid Techno figurehead Tadeo, Tokyo's legendary DJ Shufflemaster, Swedish mainstay Joel Mull, UK phenomenon The Advent, Icelandic icon Exos, American live act Lady Starlight, and Uruguayan upstart William Arist. With more projects in the works, Participation will continue to inspire, surprise, and delight listeners around the globe, with the impressive depth and breadth of Hester’s tastes and abilities on full display.
