Great composition, I feel immediately that influence 80's arrangements, sounds and bass and hits are well marked. Nice vocal chorus.

For Perversion for Profit I used samples from a 1965 propaganda movie with the same name, which warns against the malefic consequences of reading girlie magazines on our sexual behavior.
At times hilarious, but also politically incorrect if you look at it through contemporary glasses. It's incredible how our look at nudity, sexuality and LGBTQ+ has changed over the last 55 years, but at the same time, the beliefs in this film are still painfully topical. Even in our western countries.

Musically I was consciously influenced by the 80s. The warmth and imperfections of the sound of cassettes, analog and digital synths from that era... Without limiting me to the rules of a certain genre or time period. I don't care to imitate an existing genre as accurately as possible. It is no more than a starting point from which I hope to create something fresh. Nor am I concerned with what's popular. I'm just trying to tell my own story.

With “A.H.S. GHETTO TRAX” I wanted to capture the vibe of the strictly vinyl sets I used to play at squat house parties and seedy underground clubs in Antwerp, about two decades ago. 
Although many of these artists did not have the means for fancy production or high end mastering, the musical brilliance remains undeniable.
To me the atmosphere of raw energy is visionary since it still has the same effect to this day as it had back then.

Side note for the purists:
Although most of the tracks in this mix are actually from my early dj era (late 90s / early 2k) I chose to add a few "recent" tracks to the mix as I appreciate next gen artists that are keeping this vibe alive.

Moby got his big break in the '90s when he released the hit "Go" followed by the hugely successful studio album Play, which has been included in countless movie and TV soundtracks. But beyond the limelight, the US artist has also gone through immense struggle. Raised in a working-class family in a wealthy part of Connecticut, he often felt displaced as a child, eventually moving to a disused factory space to make music before finally relocating to New York and trying his hand at being a DJ. 

In this interview, Moby reflects on the early days of his time in New York. Rejected from all the record labels he sent his demos to, he felt like an outsider, choosing to frequent clubs like The Loft and Paradise Garage before finally becoming a resident DJ at the now-defunct club Mars. He also talks about living with panic disorder, anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse, and how he's turned his life towards activism and animal rights. Listen to the episode in full.
