yes, Blyth's Hornbills. They were quite common at this location - a good indicator of healthy forest!

Love hearing the birds flying by at the 2:00 minute mark.

Absolutely amazing and other-worldly to me. Truly I must be living in a nature-sound desert. So sad.  A popular song from the past has a line that says, "we traded paradise for a parking lot". Again, so sad. Truly a deficit to the soul.

wonderful tripback to an odd 30 years back wondering the West Irian forests and mountains... but this recording is really very good and special!

I Like Strings

The wolf pack you hear on the files are recorded in Sweden last summer. More specific in Bergslagen. An area with wonderful nature, forests and wilderness.

A quiet summer night, light fog over the moors in the forests you can hear this wonderful concerts. But you need to know where In Sweden, there are only around 35 wolf packs.

This pack consists of the alpha male and the female, three youngsters from last year and five puppies from this year.

On this first file, in a series, are the three youngsters from last year on their own. The distance between me and the wolf pack is around 175 yards / 160 meters. Between us is a moor with light fog. It is a wonderful nordic summer night with no wind.

This is one of my first recordings with a Telinga PRO-8 MK2 stereo parabolic dish connected to a ZOOM recorder. 
Recordings have some post production. 

The howling wolf in the picture is the alpha female of the pack.

In the hill forests of Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand, White-handed Gibbons sing in the distance, while the heavy wingbeats of hornbills can be heard as they fly into feed on the fruits of a strangler fig.

Recorded in predawn light by a swamp in Ulu Muda's rainforest. In the latter part of this sample you can hear the unusual calls of Rough-sided Frogs (Pulchrana glandulosa). Agile Gibbons can be heard singing in the background along with the occasional chattering calls of Banded Langur.

Celer - There's No Time To Process

Morning birdsong from dry dipterocarp forest in Thung Yai West Wildlife Sanctuary, part of Thailand's western forest complex.  The sounds of this open habitat are quite different from the moist evergreen forests found on the nearby hills and gullies. 

In this sample crickets stridulate from the grassy understorey and a Greater Flameback (a type of large forest woodpecker) can be heard tapping, drumming and calling. Other species heard in this cut include: Grey-headed Parakeet, Hair-crested Drongo, Coppersmith Barbet, Black-hooded Oriole, White-browed Scimitar-Babbler, Black-crested & Red-whiskered Bulbuls and Plain Flowerpecker. White-handed Gibbons can be heard calling from the distant hills.
