Karen Ruiz y Diego Ibáñez son los navegantes estelares de la nave sonora intergaláctica Sonido Desconocido 2, una constelación de ritmos que orbita entre el romanticismo melódico y la exploración de nuevos universos electrónicos. Su misión es clara: trazar rutas sonoras a través de nebulosas tropicales y agujeros de gusano rítmicos, desafiando las leyes del tiempo y el espacio musical.**  

Desde su lanzamiento en la Ciudad de México, dentro del sistema estelar de La Súper Cumbia Futurista, han compartido órbita con exploradores cósmicos como Amantes del Futuro, Changorama y Chambelán. Pioneros de la cumbia electrónica chilanga, han abierto portales a dimensiones desconocidas, llevando su sonido a sistemas planetarios distantes.  

En 2008, la nave ya surcaba los cielos de Beijing, marcando hitos en su bitácora astral. Con la llegada de Karen, el viaje se intensificó, aterrizando en tierras lejanas como España y Suecia, y surcando festivales como el Vive Latino. Su frecuencia vibratoria ha evolucionado, consolidando un estilo único que sigue expandiéndose como una supernova en el cosmos musical.

Sonido Desconocido 2 is a Mexican electronic, romantic, melodic, slightly experimental Cumbia duo, formed by Karen
Ruiz and Diego Ibáñez. 
They are inspired by poetry, sophisticated harmonies, synthetic sounds, spatial atmospheres.
They have found affinity and remixes with characters like Jessie Evans, Jessie Bulbo, La Nortec Panóptica Orchestra, Cero39, Amantes del Futuro, GFlux, La Furia con Lujuria, Bigote Sucio...

More than a decade ago they released their first album “Trópico Quasar” and are very close to releasing their second LP: “Amor Astral”, in the fall of 2024. It will be a conceptual album, somewhere between nailed and fun that fuses cumbias with other rhythms, such as They are jarocho, reggaeton and Hip hop.

Chrissy Spratt is a Canadian singer-songwriter who has broken barriers as an independent artist and has achieved over 5.5 million followers across her social media platforms. Her unique ability to adapt and learn cultural and complex dialects has allowed her to gain a continued viral presence within the pop and R&B music industry. Chrissy’s voice, which is often described as angelic, clear and pure, possesses an enchanting quality.
Chrissy has been diligently working in the studio on her highly anticipated debut EP, set for release in 2025, from Hi-Way 89 Entertainment. Collaborators on the project include Ontario-based afrobeats star Nonso Amadi; Canadian artists and songwriting team Coleman Hell and La+ch; and Grammy Award-winning producers Daramola and Tejiri (best known for producing Tems’ “Higher”); These creative partnerships have allowed Chrissy to refine her artistry, producing music that resonates deeply with a diverse audience.
Born and raised in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, Chrissy grew up in a family of mixed Lebanese and Armenian heritage. She first decided to try her hand at singing in the school choir as a kid, where a successful performance of “Oh Happy Day” from Sister Act 2 gave her the confidence she needed to explore her talent. “I was very shy but I had an amazing teacher who supported and encouraged me,” she says. “She really believed in me and put me as the lead singer. I had never sung in front of an audience before…Looking back at it now, that performance was such a pivotal moment in my life.” 
While attending college, Chrissy took a job as a server in a small nightclub, where she got to meet interesting people and make connections within the local music scene. “I stayed working in the nightlife industry for many years. It helped me fund the beginning of my music career.”
She got her first big break when she was offered an opportunity to open for Snoop Dogg on the Canada leg of his 2019 tour. The gravity of the opportunity to share the same stage nightly with one of the biggest musical icons in the world was one not lost on her. “Opening for Snoop Dogg was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had as a performer,” Chrissy says. “I didn’t really stop to think about how big these shows were going to be. I remember arriving at the first venue for soundcheck and being blown away by the massive size of the stadium and the stage. I just remember thinking to myself wow… ok, this is really happening!”
Like many singers, she pivoted during the pandemic to recording and posting videos of herself to Instagram and TikTok. Her golden vocal tone quickly found an audience of eager fans, awaiting her next cover and leaving requests for new songs to cover in the comments. “I truly enjoy learning cover songs, especially challenging requests,” Chrissy says. “It requires me to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. There’s been so many times where I’ve received a request and thought to myself, ‘This is impossible, there’s no way I can learn this or sing this.’ But I also want to prove to myself that I can do anything, so I break it down line by line and take the time to learn it. Those are the ones I’m most proud of. The covers teach me different flows, melodies, and ways to articulate, that inspire me when I’m creating my own music.”
After Nigerian afrobeats superstar Kizz Daniel endorsed her cover of his 2023 hit “Cough (Odo),” Chrissy found herself going viral, with a massive new fanbase centered largely in West Africa and its diaspora demanding more afrobeats covers, challenging her with songs in various regional dialects. She found her way to the attention of Ikenna Nwagboso and Camillo Doregos, veteran music executives who have played a pivotal role in spreading afrobeats worldwide, who signed her as the first act to their new company, Hi-Way 89 Entertainment.
With the first single through this arrangement, “In Too Deep,” set for imminent release, Chrissy is set to begin her transition from Instagram and Tik Tok star to star recording artist. She returns to the road this spring with dates opening for Rotimi in Canada.
Defying industry norms with a distinctive blend of talent and determination, Chrissy Spratt is an artist thriving independently in a digital era. With each self-made melody, she proves that true artistry knows no boundaries and can flourish in the most unconventional spaces.
