His first credits were with The Roots' Game Theory (2006), for which he co-produced the title track, "Livin' in a New World," and "Clock with No Hands." Khari has continued contributing to Roots (Rising Down and Undun), Jill Scott, J*Davey, and Money Making Jam Boys, among others. After scoring the Sundance series Brick City and HBO Documentary Prayer For A Perfect Season, he released his debut, Wait for Sunrise, through his label, The Lunchroom. Soul Train named it one of 2012's best releases. Mateen’s also a member of Elevator Fight.

La formule minimaliste troque le lourd équipement électro-acoustique du groupe pour les mettre à table devant une panoplie de simples machines à sons, à la manière d’un savoureux buffet international. Au menu : boîte à rythme et synthétiseurs des belles années se mélangent et vous rappellent que votre corps peut se mouvoir d’une manière insoupçonnée. 

Qualité Motel (QM pour les intimes) lancera son premier album, intitulé Motel Califorña, le 2 avril prochain. Pour ce premier opus, la bande réunit une liste d’invités tout aussi efficace que surprenante. On y retrouvera Stefie Shock, Mitsou, Grand Analog (Toronto), Socalled, Yann Perreau, Pintandwefall (Helsinki, Finlande), James Di Salvio, Mrs.Paintbrush (Pittsburgh, É-U), Karim Ouellet, Caracol, Elisapie Isaac, Béni bbq, Fanny Bloom, Amélie Glenn et Usetowork. Ces collaborateurs de renom élèvent les beats incendiaires de QM au rang de véritables «tubes». Même si ce projet dansant n’est qu’un passe-temps sans prétention pour ses membres, ces derniers livrent malgré tout un son puissant et une performance de fête, autant sur les grands dance floors que dans la plus petite chambre de motel plafond-de-stucco-tapis-poil-angora.

No, we’re not talking about some cheap motel chain where you can pay your room by the hour. Qualité Motel is the new 100% electronic based side project from the band members of Misteur Valaire. This minimalistic formula swaps the heavy electro-acoustic gear to bring to the table five guys loaded with a basic sound system, just like a delicious international buffet. On the menu: drum machine and synthesizers from the good old days blend themselves to remind you that your body can move in unsuspected ways.

Qualité Motel (QM for friends) will release their first album, entitled Motel Califorña, on April 2nd. For this debut album, the band managed to assemble an impressive and surprising guest list.
