This is a short re-tracing of the "disquiet junto's" of 2021. 

Last year, I tried sequencing really small snippets of renderings of former "juntos". This year, to try something different, I found one for each month of 2021, dived into the "daw" sourcecode, and tried to pick up some of what I still thought as interesting parts and just sequence them. It might not "stand alone" as a coherent piece - but, if nothing else, it gives me a quick nostalgic sum-up of some of the nice evenings I've had with the "disquiet junto"...

52 endings and a new start - disquiet0522

This is a personal review of the year 2021 - consisting of twelve short musical sections, one per month. The sections were each cut from a RabMusicLab track released in the corresponding month. The tracks were chosen upon their personal or musical importance.

The picture is intended to show a symbol for the passage of time:
It is inspired by the "chronopteric birds" featured in the series of graphic novels "Azimut" by Wilfrid Lupano and Jean-Baptiste Andreae. According to the publisher this is an "incredible Terry Gilliam-esque fantasy tale" and has Time as one of its main subjects.
The photograph shows one of the metal water-spouting birds in the garden of Schwetzingen palace which remind me of these time-related animals in the graphic novel.

Sonic Diary 2021 (Disquiet0522)

Disquiet Junto Project 0522: Just Backdated. The Assignment: Create a sonic diary of the past year with a dozen (or more) super-brief segments.

Project notes: 12x5 Seconds. I added around 20 tracks (out of a lot, thanks to some circulating self-replicating DNA) in Reaper, selecting by what I remembered by the tracks name to be good. I cut all down to 5 secs, without listening, just anywhere inside the track, mostly areas with visually more waveform action. I killed all but 12, selecting by what made this minute sound more representative in my ears. I think anyway it has a bias on tracks with beats, but this felt somehow right for fragments of 5 seconds. The image shows my workplace in November 21, normally not that messy, but I soldered some diy modules at that time. Yet again, the disquiet junto, it's members and it's music had been an enrichment of my life in 2021, so thanks to all! ;-)
