Reflect on Something

In this set, I DJ while having to pee from the very beginning. This is the ultimate test. Maybe next time I can do 1 hour. This is the key to unlocking full mastery of your mind, body and soul.

In this mix, I worked on phrasing, and differentiating when to use Low-end EQ transitions vs mid/hi EQ transitions. I feel pretty good about this mix actually. A few vocal clashes and one or two transitions a touch out of phrase, but the basics are starting to feel consistently good.

I also used a loop -> tempo reduction transition to go from DnB (that is really 175 Techno) -> Hard Techno, and it worked relatively well imo. I don't really have the techno library to play more than a few songs atm, and I basically get stranded in a specific key unless I transition back to the same song, but it feels like a promising way to add some genre-variety to my sets.

If it sounds a little different for the first 8 or so songs, it's because I had to re-record it after, as I forgot to press the button at the start O.o

Also, I feel pretty good about this set, but during the "Shadowban" -> "You Choose" transition, I got distracted by a redlining audio channel and was fiddling with a trim knob when I should have been mixing, so that's why the track stays in too long and gets pulled out abruptly xD

Rhizome Patchwork May 25th

Hello. I wanted to record a set that would represent a "project declaration". Meaning, this is meant to show off specific influences I have from the musical landscape, demonstrate where I think my own music fits into said landscape, and also provide an example of what kind of tracks I would play out. This is more of an example of what I might play in a higher energy, later slot in a night :D

Expect to hear some darkstep [or skullstep if you are feeling //e|d|g|y//], neurofunk [this genre means too many things now], technoid [fake, old, necromancied from 2002, obscure, hard to find, is this just neuro?], some deep/dark/minimal/techy drum and bass for pacing [we need more adjectives to lump together here instead of creating a cohesive genre name], and a splash of crossbreed [DnB's double salted black liquorice].

There are some unreleased tracks by myself that I think are just barely good enough to put in a mix :D. 

I had a lot of fun making this mix, and I hope you find something you're looking for in here.
