The Netherlands’ world famous Radio 538 has today launched their brand-new sound, once again produced by Wisebuddah. 

The 2021 package for the Talpa owned station sees the artistic talents of Marc Vickers, Ben Townsend, Steph Jansen (Wisebuddah) and Chris Hartgers (538) combine again, collaborating to take the sound of 538 even further.

With over a dozen new compositions, ranging from Drop House to Dance to Urban Pop, the package contains new generic station IDs and a fresh TOTH sequence, all reflecting the cutting edge of CHR imaging.

Chris Hartgers, Creative Lead, Radio 538, said: “ We’ve worked with Wisebuddah for almost 10 years now, our combined goal was to keep ahead of the trends and to come up with the next stage of imaging for Radio 538. We needed to make sure that our listeners could still recognize the well-known ‘Radio 538 sound’ over the new package, but more than ever we needed to push our sound forward. After 8 months of hard work, I can proudly say that we have brought Radio 538 to its new chapter of imaging and sound. And boy, it’s a good one!”

Every Christmas Sky Radio in the Netherlands transforms into "The Christmas Station", playing nothing but Christmas hits past and present.

Following on from the success of Buddah’s 2011 custom package, the team were given the challenge of rebranding the imaging and updating Sky’s classic Christmas sound.
The brief was to draw on some well loved classic Christmas songs from the likes of Coldplay, Wham, Chris Rea, Mariah Carey and many more. 

Comprising of 16 custom IDs including Main IDs, Transitions, Shotguns and two bespoke mini Christmas songs, we aimed to create a warm, uplifting and contemporary Christmas feel.

Taking a break from the mince pies and Mulled Wine, Wise Buddah’s Marc Vickers said; “Even though we made the package in the middle of August, we managed to create an overwhelmingly festive mood in the studio. It was a pleasure to make and great fun too!”   

WB’s Paul Plant added, “We’re looking forward to spreading the Christmas cheer in 2013 when the SKY Radio Christmas package will be available for international syndication.

Berlin’s 94.3 RS2 updated their station sound with a contemporary, upbeat Custom ID Package from Wise Buddah. Reflecting a diverse playlist – from Adele and Bruno Mars to Whitney Houston and Westlife, the new package works as a “transition between a range of musical universes”..

Programme Director and General Manager Christian Schalt “AC radio station imaging is more challenging than before. 80’s songs are still strong on many radios, but so are current tracks from R`n´B and Dance artists. We needed a contemporary wrapper for our station. Wise Buddah not only understood our brief immediately, but also came up with many additional ideas to achieve this goal. Well done!”

WISEBUDDAH 94.3 RS2 2013 MONTAGE

BBC Radio 2 was the Gold winner of the Best Station Imaging prize at the UK’s 2013 Sony Radio Awards.

In his acceptance speech, Senior Producer of Station Sound Chris Reay thanked Wise Buddah for the production of the “amazing” jingle package.

The Judges added: “The new jingle package has breathed life and a freshness into the network. Combined with inventive trail production and clever scripting, this is a station that really knows its audience well and how best to use imaging to communicate the values of the brand to them.”

It was recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Chris Masterson in several of London’s heritage recording studios, and has been acclaimed for reflecting the “enormous diversity” of the station whilst maintaining a “wonderfully consistent sound”.

Wise Buddah’s work for Radio 2 included contributions from the on air talent of BBC Radio 2, so we saw the likes of Fun Lovin’ Criminal Huey Morgan on guitar, blues legend Paul Jones on harmonica as well as vocal contributions from jazz singer Clare Teal and UK Soul Diva Beverley Knight.

In addition to this, the world famous, award winning London Community Gospel Choir were invited to provide vocals for Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show Jingles.

In all 100 musicians played their part in making this one of the most musically diverse radio jingle packages ever – from Blues to Gospel, Jazz to Classical, 80’s Pop to 00’s Rock and anthemic orchestral news and quiz themes.
