For the first episode of Club Freak On of 2024, I have the distinct pleasure of inviting Denver by way of Austin DJ and photographer, pips. A local fixture in the queer dance scene in the Mile High and beyond, pips brings together 90s film soundtracks with jackin' rave anthems and candy-coated house. The result? Well you'll have to listen to find out ;)

Club Freak On 1/26/24 — wngdu and pips

February's episode of Club Freak On features none other than Denver gem, Pristal! Marco aka Pristal is a multi-talented DJ, producer, musician and dancer. They are very active in both Denver's music community as well as the ballroom scene. Operating the mix and now party series Pinky Swear, as well as the father of the House of Rashaad Newsome, Marco's presence in our community is irreplaceable. You can hear choppy vogue cuts alongside heady techno and euphoric house in this mix.

My mix this month features the track "R3V" by Atom™, a play on "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" by Gil Scott Heron. In this track, the vocal part repeats "the revolution will not be online" a line I find fitting for the distressing climate we find ourselves in at this current moment. Videos of horrific violence the IOF unleashes upon the Palestinian people are couched between advertisements for sports betting and AI-generated pornographic images, followed by more videos of tyranny in the form of police brutality, politicians running away from brave constituents confronting them and our President licking an ice cream cone while waffling on a response to the starving brown people besieged under his direction. Our future feels extremely bleak right now, and my mix is both a reflection of that darkness as well as an escape from it. I hope you enjoy. Free Palestine.

This month's episode of Club Freak On comes right after the Persian New Year. To mark the occasion, I invited my dear friend and fellow irooni Sard for a special mix that winds down the last year and springs us into the fresh new year. Let's party like it's 1403!

This month's guest is Denver's best-kept secret, Corrigan. One of the few DJs in this city who only plays vinyl, Corrigan's deep and rich knowledge of rap, g-tech, baltimore club and more is unrivaled. He runs the party Break Even as well as the music blog lebronjames.co and is an absolute weapon on the decks. Since we both have shows on May 11th, I thought, what better way to promote than to showcase our sounds in this month's episode of Club Freak On? Catch me May 11th with Josh Cheon during the day and Break Even with Beautiful Swimmers at night. A rare double feature to kick off the summer in Denver.

Took a little hiatus in May but we're back in June with a very special guest from Miami. Bort is single-handedly bringing tech house back to America's Ibiza aka Miami and rightfully so. He's an absolute king at making the girls dance and it's a special honor to have him as a guest on Club Freak On ~
