Info for the samples/tune:

We started off with Various Melody Loop 7, which a lot of you entering the contest seemed to be drawn to with that dark, kalimba inspired hip-hop sound.

We also liked that (along with most of the samples we used from Cymatics' 2020 Melody Collection) it still left room for us to compose melodies to perform that cohesively add to the contest-supplied samples.

We based the verse off the Lofi Melody Loop 1, which had a cool R&B vibe, somewhat reminiscent of "Just The Two Of Us" (Grover Washington Jr. / Bill Withers)

For our Pre-Chorus, we used Nostalgic Melody Loop 11 as it had a nice climbing feel to it—we had our horns harmonize the rise along with it as well to add some of our vibe to the tune.

The Chorus builds off of Classic Melody Loop 1, which has warbly keys with vinyl crackle, piano, strings, vocal chops, and bass.

Along with all loops that provided stems with bass, we took out the bass so that David could add his own spin to the bass parts.

The Bridge pulls from the Various Melody Loop 5, where the horns played the flute part that was originally on top of the sample.

Moving on to the final chorus adds in our favorite vocal from Cymatics' Ultimate Lofi Collection. With some note tweaking it blended really nicely with Classic Melody Loop 1!

To finish it out we had two original verses put on by Jay-Silent Knight, some muted solo work on trumpet Jared Clifton(after the second verse), and some drum solo work by James Applegate(second half of the bridge!)
