Sound Synthesis -- Sailing To The Cosmos (Nebulae Records)

ABSIS' 'Speed Traces' is a track that instantly caught my attention with its hypnotic beat and captivating rhythm. The track is part of 'Saw' EP, which deep dives into the world of low-slung techno. 'Speed Traces' features a half-step rhythm that creates a groovy, almost trance-like atmosphere, drawing the listener in and keeping them hooked from start to finish. The percussive elements are intricate and precisely layered, resulting in a rich, dynamic sound that evolves throughout the track. The two sequences within the track flow seamlessly, each building upon the previous one and creating a sense of momentum that drives the track forward.

The track has a specific energy that's hard to describe but impossible to ignore - it's the kind of track that grabs you by the shoulders and makes you move. I can imagine this track coming on in a dark club, with the strobe lights flashing and the bassline vibrating through the floor (oh wait, that's exactly how ABSIS' set at Mostra sounded and looked like!). 
The rich and nuanced sound design shows ABSIS' expertise in producing techno, and the overall mood and atmosphere of the track make it a perfect addition to any techno set.

Abby Echiverri (@echiverri) joins the Patterns of Perception imprint with Deformation, a diverse collection of playfully psychedelic techno tracks infused with a radiant cosmic energy.

Produced in 2021-22, Abby drew inspiration from the captivating physics simulations her partner was working on at the time, ultimately imbuing the music with an ethereal atmosphere that permeates the entire EP, and from which the tracks derive their names.

PTN03 presents a cohesive yet diverse collection of tracks, blending psychedelic energy with delicate and profound moments. Abby's music carries an almost hopeful quality, with drum programming that leans towards groove and shuffle, and the incorporation of diminished chords and progressions that pose questions to the listener.

Deformation is an intricate record that showcases Abby Echiverri's distinctive, three-dimensional approach to techno: one that never feels oppressive, but calls to mind a sense of exploration and freedom.

Paris-based artist Lina Filipovich is set to release her third album, Music for an Imaginary Dancefloor. This album ventures into the intriguing space where club rhythms meet abstract, experimental sounds. Written between June and December 2022, the LP emerged from improvisations on analog synthesizers and is characterized by its dynamic energy and rich, layered textures.

Our premiere today, "Silver Ghost," combines atonal drones and atmospheric elements to create a moody, cinematic experience. The track's gritty, bleepy downtempo vibe flirts with the experimental, making it perfect for listeners who appreciate intricate, thought-provoking music. In the body of work of Wolfgang Voigt – who, like few others, has shaped and influenced the world of electronic music with countless different projects since the early 1990s -, GAS stands out in particular. Even after nearly 20 years, the sound of GAS doesn’t seem to have lost any of its luster, as shown by the commanding success of Kompakt’s fall 2016 re-release of the back catalogue as box set.

The overwhelming feedback from the international fan community and worldwide media outlets attests once again to the timelessness of GAS. Which is why it will feel like hardly a day has passed since the release of the last official album “Pop” nearly 20 years ago, when Wolfgang Voigt resumes this specific path with the upcoming new full-length NARKOPOP (out 21 april).

The first GAS live tour since 8 years will start in early April in Copenhagen followed by selected shows in Germany, Austria, UK, Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

Wolfgang Voigt, born in 1961 in Cologne, Germany, is an artist, music producer, label owner and one of the co-founders of the Cologne-based electronica and techno label Kompakt.

Working under many different project names and pseudonyms (e.g. Mike Ink, Studio1, M:I:5, GAS, Love Inc., Freiland, Wassermann…), Wolfgang Voigt has continuously varied his own, unmistakable music style from the onset of the 1990s, spanning the spectrum from creating experimental and unusual hybrids by combining elements of techno with German Schlager and folk music, to pioneering, austere minimalistic concept techno series such as Studio1, a series that was limited to 10 vinyl releases, the cover of each bearing a plain color design without any text.
