Anna Unusyan is a music producer and a DJ who lives in London. Being brought up with a huge influence of punk-rock music Anna has started exploring techno scene in the late teen years shortly after moving to London. Inspired by original rhythmic textures and brooding style of London Underground scene on top of the process of music production and sound engineering, Anna has quickly immersed herself into crafting her own sound that can be labelled as dynamic and bass-driven techno. Being determined to showcase her own productions to the scene, Anna has started carving her path into the electronic music industry by constantly delivering original sound that spans from jacking to heavy bouncing techno grooves at local clubs. Following a stream of successful events at iconic nightclubs such as Egg London and Ministry of Sound, Anna has become a resident of London brand Till Last Track. While she maintains regular gigs in London, Anna has started expanding her geographic by making stops around Europe. 2018 has seen Anna appearing at two Sonar OFF sessions in Barcelona as well as making a Berlin debut by playing an extended set at Suicide Circus. Same year Anna has secured her debut release with Starskream Records. Since then, Anna has been appearing on various imprints with records containing heavy thump and hypnotic textures.

Originally, we were working on this rework to create a special moment for our shows. As we were jamming in the studio one late night, we got so hooked on this song, but we would have never expected the feedback we were given.

The mastermind behind Basic Channel, Hard Wax and Rhythm & Sound doesn't do mixes. For RA.1000, he made an exception.

Trace Mark Ernestus's path, and you trace the evolution of electronic sound itself. The timeline of contemporary Berlin is unimaginable without him. At first, that meant Hard Wax, the crucial hub that shaped the early era of the city's techno revolution. Carl Craig once said it plainly: "Mark was ground zero."

From there, Ernestus never stopped. There's the birth of dub techno and the near-flawless catalogue that followed through Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound. There's his immersion in Senegalese mbalax with Ndagga Rhythm Force. Lately, that means Open Ground the Wuppertal bunker that's letting people hear music as never before.

As part three of RA.1000, Ernestus has kindly supplied his first studio DJ mix. As you might expect, it's technically immaculate, but more than that, it feels like a substantial and generous conduit to one of the world's most vital genres.

Amapiano remains underexplored in music media. Publications like our own are still learning to keep pace with the South African sound's global pull, animating millions across the globe. 

You'll hear the range and richness of the genre across the near two-hour mix, from the gothic, percussive stomp of Caltetonic's "Bambela"  to the devotional glow of GemValleyMusiq's "Something Spiritual."

Through all of this, Ernestus has remained understated. He lets the music speak for him, with a quiet honesty that lies in decades of opening doors—creating the conditions for new sounds and scenes to flourish and carry the culture forward.

Their own label, built with no creative boundaries, Radau is a playground where the Berlin quartet remove all limits and expectations and dig deep into the mindset and experimentalism that united them in the first place. 'Frequent Tendencies' sets the scene perfectly. A loosely hewn sliver of emotion constructed just a smidgeon off grid, there's a natural momentum as we're thrust deep inside a vociferous synth hook that rises unapologetically, gradually taking us to a surprise pivot. From here the articulation switches, a whole layer of weight and emphasis on the riff opens up and your crowd won't just elevate, they'll levitate. With plenty more music due on both Radau and beyond, it seems GHEIST's impeccable acceleration over the last two years will continue for a long time to come.
