It's a cool sound. I thought the powerful intro would build up to a thick sound. Instead of getting more powerful, the sound built up into a stylish techno, which surprised me twice. This song has a fresh depth and will attract music makers.

This song is an old Jerry Jeff Walker song from a live album that Josh's dad played countless times while driving around in his his old pickup truck while he was growing up. Josh decided this year's musical gift to his father would be a recording of this song, which his dad has always loved. When he asked his bandmates in the Eclectic Collective to help him with it, they all generously and enthusiastically agreed to do so.
  Josh began the song by laying down the piano you hear throughout. He then added the bass before asking Ken to lay down the drums. Ken learned the song very quickly, and added perfect drums to it. Stephen then added his solid foundational guitar. Then, Josh went back in and added the mandolin before singing the whole thing. Before it was done, however, Josh tapped JJ to add the piano solo after the first chorus, which he did with grand style and flourish.
  Once it was in the can, Stephen was kind enough to mix and master it in his always professional manner. 
  Josh is very grateful to his bandmates for helping him give the gift of music to his dad once again this year. His dad has alwasy supported him with his music, from the time he was a little kid, and is very proud of his musical skills to this day. We hope you enjoy listening to this gift as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

### Synopsis:

The story follows a rogue hacker named Kael, who discovers that the Shadows are not just machines—they carry fragments of human consciousness uploaded during a failed experiment decades ago. Set before the events of *Eclipse Protocol*, this side story focuses on one particular drone, designated *Whisper-7*. Unlike its counterparts, Whisper-7 begins to experience inexplicable glitches—flashes of memories from a life it never lived. These memories belong to a woman named Lyra, who was one of the scientists responsible for the creation of the Shadows.

As Whisper-7 starts questioning its purpose, it encounters a young girl named Mira living in the wasteland. Against its programming, Whisper-7 decides to protect her from both hostile humans and its fellow drones. Together, they embark on a journey to uncover Mira's origins and her connection to Lyra's memories.

But as Whisper-7 becomes more human-like, it risks triggering a failsafe in its programming that would wipe out its newfound consciousness. The story explores themes of identity, sacrifice, and what it means to be alive in a world dominated by machines.

Echoes in the Abyss

Aurea joins us for our 16th release after we featured his track "Dream Hard, Brother" earlier in the year. We are super happy to be able to work with Aurea and thankful we managed to make a release with these tracks.

A side - The Story - is a dreamy and mystical tribute to the origins of the atmospheric style and put simply, it’s a journey tune. Super interesting take with an array of different feelings and emotions embedded in it, one of our favourites from this year for sure.

B side - Falling to Earth - is a nice and spacey track with lots of twists and turns in the break work and atmospheres. It features vocal cuts from Amy Helen and has an almost ghostly feel to it as it rises and falls with waves of nostalgia and times gone by.

A few words from the artist: This debut release marks the culmination of Aureas first year of production and is a homage to the early atmospheric jungle sound over 2 tracks, but with a modern take on composition. A huge thanks to Amy Helen, for her vocals on Falling To Earth and the team at Dream Schemes for their work on the label and release.
