Welcome to The Mixtape Museum (MXM)’s home on Soundcloud. MXM is an archive project dedicated to rescuing, preserving and sharing vintage DJ-mixes, particularly those originally distributed on analog mediums, i.e., compact cassette. These analog recordings, some of which are over two decades old are deteriorating and in danger of being lost forever. Our belief is that these analog recordings are records of time and should be handled as artifacts. We’re talking about mixes from DJ icons like, DJ Hollywood, Brucie B, Kid Capri, and more. Many of the mixtapes featured are ripped from compact cassette and will include a Side A and Side B, additionally the sound quality is not digital, and may include that cassette tape hiss similar to that of the vinyl pop and crackle. Embrace the hiss!
