Celebrating rootikal reverberations in electronic music from hip hop to house, jungle, techno and beyond, and with a nod to the foundations – jazz and R&B. In the first hour, Leanne airs some new releases plus some tracks by her guest this month – Norwegian DJ and producer, Sotofett. They discuss how growing up in a small town shaped his music and output on his richly diverse labels Sex Tags Mania, Sex Tags Amfibia, Wania etc and about his upcoming release with Jimi Tenor. I’ve been meaning to make another volume of Geography of the Mind, a mix series dedicated to Canadian private press records for a while and I finally had the time to put one together. This time I’ve focused on rock in its many iterations: Francophone prog, barroom jam bands, home town psychedelia, coastal pop, 4-track shoegaze and suburban new wave. These songs span decades and coastlines but converge with a shared sense of independence and emotional resonance.
