Making his label debut, Andrea Cassino, the Italian artist's smooth, free flowing style melds well with elements from 'Black Lion'. Known for his journey-esque creations his interpretation once again meets that storytelling reverence he's so beloved for. Pulsating and energetic yet deep and fluid, it's a mix with charming rhythms and percussive drive. Wispy vocal motifs and gaseous waves meet as the piece strips down into a guitar like soundscape, making for a soulful centrepiece, before shifting energy into an exhilarating finale.

It's a unique feeling of ease and unpretentious elegance that reveals the long-year experience of an old hand. The productions of David Keno are a wonderful example: The functional grooves of the Berlin resident put the principle of ‘quality over quantity’ in a nutshell. On his Waterfront EP he presents two highly immersive dance tracks that are immensely catchy without any trace of flashiness, their organic melodies folding and unfolding with minimalist grace. Hicky & Kalo join the label with the ‘Solstice EP’.

Montreal natives and resident DJs at the world famous Stereo club, Hicky & Kalo are Canada’s latest greatest export. Both classical trained musicians and University graduates, they have gone on to craft a stellar reputation for their inimitable edge, commitment to the scene and penchant for deep melodic grooves. 

Opening with lead track ‘Solstice’, pretty arps, warm pads and a loose percussive groove are all thats needed. Picking up pace in the midsection with a galloping bass, pressure builds to the final epic break. Employing a rolling tribal groove, ‘Jasmine’ opens with more oomf. Keys, field recordings  and ethereal pads all keep things light. Finally, ‘Tarde de Sentimiento’ takes the EP in wildly different directions. Subtly Indian in sound design, it slowly gathers pace until the climatic break mid way. A solid EP and we welcome the guys to the Sudbeat family.
