From slate-grey skies and industrial scenery, a Berlin portrait captures Daniel Helmstedt in "Luv / Lee". Majestic piano sequences sweep gently across a melodic landscape coalescing in sonic clouds that shift and transform. Rhythmic foundations criss-cross in regular patterns hewn into the mountainside in sweeping juxtaposition, while glassy synth phrasing glistens on ocean waves. Distorted patterns create a new cadence wrapped in emotive passages that cut through in bristling, sparkling formations.

A returning visitor, Haen reimagines "Lee" through a new lens where the Isle of Skye represents a magnificent sonic vision. Familiar motifs float across rocky percussive outcrops where violin passages permeate the lush verdant landscape and pulsating waves crash against the shoreline in elemental force. Meeting Molly and Mango forge a new friendship where subtle textures and reversed fragments crystalise into new sonic shards. A fluid, ever-changing scenery shimmers in melodic counterpoint and incongruent effects add a touch of intrigue. "Luv" takes a new form courtesy of Djimboh where memorable syncopation creates innovation and aural prowess. Delicate new shapes form a recognisable configuration in the path ahead and subterranean basslines emerge from the depths of the earth to steer a new route across the mountainside.

Welcome Enamour on Einmusika. The first two tracks, "Epiphany Engineering" and "Anima", came about in quick succession during Covid lockdowns, after a few months of shifting his leisure listening away from dance music to modern classical, jazz, and film scores. These two are an exploration into concerto arrangement, harmony, classical composition, and its modification for a club setting. He created an emotional journey and humanized his modular synthesizer in a classical-inspired way while still keeping the music relevant for the dance floor.

Though with Anima, he did find it necessary to provide a version with solely the melodic theme, without the limitations posed by a dance arrangement. The final track "Reticent" is another that he felt tapped into a similar energy and belonged on the record alongside the others.

Don't be fooled by robotic motifs – RWNS is an electronic battle cry for authenticity. There is no boxing, packaging and mass-producing his off-kilter drum beats, raging basslines and emotive melodies. Ben (RWNS) earlier caught the attention of the distinctive techno duo Dense & Pika releasing his debut album ‘Rose’ on their acclaimed Kneaded Pains label in 2020.

The release is filled with moments of pure clubbing bliss, from the euphoric undertones on the title track ‘Sedona Circle’ to the enigmatic structures supporting ‘Morning Glory’. The latter also got reinterpreted by Eats Everything on his ’10 Years of Eats Everything Remix’, stripping the composition down to its bones and transforming the track into one of his groovy club weapons that we all know him for. 

Ben (RWNS) comments; “The title track “Sedona Circle” is the product of a particular self healing journey I went on earlier this year. I participated in a 21 day ‘raise your vibration’ challenge where myself and others went on a guided mediation journey and were spiritually transported to a rock in Sedona, California. We were asked to combine all of our energy to try and create something magical and profoundly beautiful. During this process all I could hear was this euphoric music in my head. It was an incredible experience which culminated in the making of this track. 

It’s a real pleasure to have Eats Everything join me on this EP showcasing his trademark sound. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing all of his achievements over this past decade, I’m very proud of him. It’s an honour to share this special moment with him on this release. Here’s to another ten years! Also special thanks go out to Sasha for all of his support. It means absolutely everything to me. “

As we set forth into the heart of winter, we’re thrilled to welcome LEGATO back to TOR. The Eton Messy regular is waking waves in the international scene with recent offerings on All Day I Dream and Nightcolours, showcasing his distinct indie-leaning sound. The Londoner entered the TOR fold last year in pristine fashion, summoning the sensational I'm Waiting For You on our last Tales of Romance project. Next on the docket is his first full outing on the imprint - the And Still, I Rise EP. 

Commanding the A1 role is Lost Without You, which perfectly summarizes the LEGATO sound we’ve come to love. Chopped and trippy vocals ebb and flow, as sharp percussion keeps the groove alive. A touch of acid enters the fold to melt the mind and ignite dancefloors, while a foundational melancholic melody cuts deep for the home listeners.

The project’s namesake - And Still, I Rise - turns the dial and kicks things into high gear. A punchy drumline greets ominous bass tones to form the underbelly, while fluttering synthetics take care of the high end. A constant riser, the B-side is built for moments of exaltation, and will no doubt catch the ear of global selectors.

Closing out LEGATO’s tantalizing trio is The Dawn Aurora. Lush lo-fi tones bring an easy-flowing groove, while a signature hook sets on rotation to get the feet moving. An emotive ambience is omnipresent, crafting a tune brimming with after-hour potential.

"His passion for electronic music was awakened from listening to the clubby prog sounds of the late 90s and early 2000s. Before going digital Matt started out on Technics 1210’s, he learned how to mix at the school for promising electronic talent ‘Sonic Academy’ and his first gig came at aged 20.

The gigs continued as his reputation grew as a stand out warm up DJ in NI who was playing different music than most of his peers. With the NI club scene being much trance orientated, Matt has stayed true to his progressive tastes. As well as playing in numerous smaller club nights around the country, promoter Col Hamilton heard Matt and invited him to play in one of the longest running weekly super clubs in the UK, and the most famous club in Ireland, ‘the mighty’ LUSH in Portrush.

As a producer Matt has set his sights on the wider international prog fanbase and has already impressed influenental artists such as Cosmic Gate,Grum, Christoph, Chicane and many more with his productions. A Matt Gouck track can be a lighter and darker sound but always dancefloor driven. He is often taking inspiration from a love for the great outdoors, stunning wild scenery, the mystery of Autumn, the bleakness of Winter or hopeful Spring and uplifting Summer scenes , Matt uses these nature and seasonal themes in his music.

Matt Gouck is a new hope for Northern Irish progressive music as he continues to show the world his impressive production and cultured DJ sets."
