As TOR continues to set a strong early foundation, we head to the Meditteranean for an EP bursting with summer flavor and genuine energy. Collaborations are a pillar of the label program at When We Dip, as they capture the community and collective essence of electronic music.

Greek aficionado VieL has garnered a stellar reputation for groove and melody through a string of projects with Tale & Tone, Hoomidas, and Akbal Music. Joining him in the drivers seat are Italian comrades Madraas; a revamped moniker for a longtime partnership, who’ve graced the likes of Soundgarden and Ready Mix Records. The three seasoned producers have come together for a top drawer project, joining TOR in the presentation of the Vires EP.

Setting the stage is the release’s title track, Vires. We dive right into the groove as a crisp kick sets the mood for a track brimming with low frequency. The haunting basslines are infectious, as light percussive rhythms and strings bring character to the breakdown. A late-night tune for vibey dancefloors.

Roques harnesses melancholic melodies for a smooth and dreamy affair. A simple vocal loop plays along in background, as natural textures and swirling synths keep listeners' minds moving.

Rounding out the trio, Omnes brings heady percussion and piano work. Rhythms rotate from the start, and a playful melody brings a sense of cohesiveness to the EP’s closing.

The latest release from Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Balad back to the label for a new EP entitled ‘A Distant Memory’. The Australian artist first appeared on the Belgian imprint in 2019 with ‘The Days’, an EP produced alongside frequent studio partner Bigasti. The Sydney residents deep sound has continued to flourish as he carefully adds to a resume that includes releases on Balance Music, BeatFreak Recordings, Where The Heart Is and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. Now making a welcome return to Sound Avenue, Balad presents his first solo EP for the label alongside a remix from Zone+.

Long before humans were able to count time in days, weeks, months and years, they measured their lives in seasons. Seasons come and go. They define, and help structure, our lives. When we think back, our memories from the past are often framed by the blazing colours of autumn’s leaves, or the warm kiss of a spring breeze.
Without seasons, time slips through our fingers more easily, and our experiences melt into one another. And summer is a special season. A time of freedom, of joy, of coming together. Summers are for journeys. Trips to new and exciting places. Adventures that play out under the heat of the sun, giving life to everything it touches. Exploration and experience, new sensations and new people. It made sense, therefore, to start our musical journey through the four seasons in this most-cherished period of the year: the summer.
Across the 10 tracks on this VA, we have collected a group of tracks that shimmer and buzz with the energy of long, brilliant nights under the stars, but which also capture the unhurried calm of a balmy, carefree summer’s afternoon. From a selection of our favourite artists and friends in the world, Seasons : Volume 1 brings together an extraordinarily talented group of musicians, each of whom has crafted a slice of summer in their track. Some tracks pulse and throb with intense energy, while others take the scenic route, mesmerising us with emotional melodies. One thing is for sure: every artist wants to take the listener on a journey.

TOR and the When We Dip team are eager to announce the label’s signature release series with the inaugural Tales of Romance VA. As we set the early foundations of TOR’s sound and creative direction, this release is our unveiling of the pillars of the imprint in the years to come. The series will serve as the hub of our long-term artist relationships, fostering a collective of forward-thinking and bountiful producers, and providing a platform for exploration.

Rounding out the inaugural Tales of Romance, we have a man near and dear to the label team, Maaruo. The Montrealer has been working his way through amazing productions over the last year, including his remix for Budakid’s Quixotic on XYZ. He has some top drawer projects in store, and we’re lucky to have him on board. Vivaces is the perfect closer, with moments of tranquility flowing into sincere energy, summarizing the journey and leaving us happily dazed.

An Argentinian who’s musical forte has been bred in Berlin, Alejandro Mosso has been at the cutting edge of electronic music for more than 15 years. Through challenging the understanding of what dance music could be, Mosso sits at the intersection of deep house, minimal techno, tribal, and melodic dance music. 

Alejandro’s ability to traverse genre lines makes him a pillar of XYZ’s artistic vision. With releases on industry titans such as Cocoon, Third Ear, and Hivern Discs propelling his career, Mosso has recently found footing in the deep and melodic scene. His Amatista EP on Behrouz’s Do No Sit label is flush with quality, and his remixes for Esteble and Robbie Akbal further display the impressive recent output for Mosso.

As we step into Autumn, we are thrilled to welcome the return of Mosso to the XYZ imprint in the form of his Promenader EP. With January’s Sirocco project as a building block, the latest collection from Alejandro fosters his irresistible percussion work and groove-forward arrangements; immensely intelligent, easy-riding, and cohesive music coming your way.

Seeker brings mellow notes, as we ease into the EP’s finale with melancholic synths.
