As we move into the heart of the winter here in Montreal, we are proud to welcome back the talented Quebecois producer - Monarke. Hailing from Quebec City, he has gained international acclaim in recent years as a key figure for Soul Button's Steyoyoke. His 2021 debut on XYZ - Edge of Reality - struck a chord with global groovers. We are thrilled to have Monarke return for his sophomore release on the imprint : Footprints.

On the A-side, Monarke connects with Whirl for a collaborative gem. Footprints flows effortlessly into a sultry mood, allowing bespoke synthetics to capture the mind. Momentum rises as the track floats onwards, lifting ethereal tones from start to finish. Simply a beautiful production.

On the flip, Monarke turns the dial on Intricate. A warm breakbeat sets us in lockstep, and crisp percussives bring riveting rhythms. Utilizing enveloping energy and ominous melodics, the Canadian's progressive production swirls us into a sensational soundscape. A B-side built for the dancers.

For Vol.4 we’ve decided to do something a little different and collaborate with Dutch social channel Techno Releases. We're big admirers of the work Techno Releases have been doing in the scene, so curating this album with them was an easy decision to make. We have brought together 9 tracks from 12 talented artists from across the globe that we feel truly represents the best of forward thinking melodic house & techno.

Since we founded Techno Releases almost three years ago, our focus has been to support both upcoming and established producers from around the globe. Being a part of the global melodic techno community and constantly witnessing the passion that it keeps on giving is exactly why we continue to love what we do. 

Since the very first posts on Techno Releases, Sequence has been a label that we’ve admired and collaborated with. It’s safe to say that being asked to co-create this VA was and still is a milestone for us that we won’t forget. We want to thank all producers that have been a part of this journey and to the Sequence label for this amazing opportunity. We've always been big fans of collaborative work, especially when it comes to music. When Engelbert brought 'ADSR' to us, it was clear that three very talented producers had come together to create something special! This huge track builds to the most incredible breakdown, making it a standout piece in today’s melodic landscape. Additionally, the remix highlights the potential of those core elements, taking the original in a different direction and in keeping with the unique style of ‘Those Shadows’ we have become accustomed to.

'Lynx' was the first track Engelbert pitched to us. If you're a fan of the darker, deeper side of techno, this one is for you.

Lastly ‘Petrichor' is another masterpiece! Perfect as an intro track that builds slowly and effortlessly, interweaving beautiful melodies into a truly captivating piece!
