'Simon Larocque saw a debut for his Silar production soubriquet in February 2016 with "Delta" on Crosslink Music. Since then, the Canadian artist has seen a clutch of impressive releases feature on the likes of BC2, The Purr and Superordinate Music. Furthermore, One Of A Kind has also been a home to the Silar sound with a number of remixes, most recently in a reworking of Th Moy's "Falling Down" in November 2020. Now making his Particles debut, the Silar remix of "Avem" is a gloriously evocative and melancholic offering that revels in the free-flowing phrasing of the original while extending the range of the original work. Taking LADS and Traumhouse's components, Silar's skill is to change the key and create a stunning new piano arrangement that sits atop deep beat and subtly ticking percussion. The result is a superlative debut offering.

Miraval's love for unusual plants brought them to the "Asian Bleeding Heart" that was the beginning of this particular EP - the violet symbolizing nostalgia in their eyes and at the same time a cloud of emotions, they created "Violet Cloud". Continuing a strong summer season, Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint presents new interpretations of Nopi’s ‘Flatter’. Originally released in October of 2020 as part of the Ukrainian’s well received ‘Where to Go’ EP, the creation rounded out the collection on the strength of Sarah Chilanti’s dreamy vocals and a delicate piano top line. Now bringing new life to the much loved track, Sound Avenue invites Dmitry Molosh, about:river and GastoM to provide their own interpretations for the summer season.

The first interpretation is provided by Dmitry Molosh who returns to the label for his fifth appearance. The Belarus based producer sits firmly in progressive music’s elite class of artists, showcasing his work via Cid Inc’s Replug Records, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records. As a mainstay in Beatport’s sales charts, Dmitry now makes a welcome return to Sound Avenue with a powerful rendition of ‘Flatter’. Beginning with warm beats and effervescent percussion, it’s the pulsating nature of the groove which becomes instantly compelling. Driving, chunky and full of great character, it anchors what is a cosmic slice of progressive house. Emerging melodies marry luminous tones across the first act, before a break of clustered arps and colourful tonal tension spearheads an electric drop and epic finale. 

Making their label debut and providing the second interpretation of ‘Flatter’ is about:river. The Estonian duo is a unique collaborative project between father and son. Their productions tell a dynamic and sometimes epic story that happens to be set in a dance-groove environment. Conceptualized by father Oleg in 2018, the following year saw his 12 year old son Ervin join the project. Initially a clarinet and keyboard player, Ervin quickly became a committed member of the project, contributing not only to live performances but also in the creative process, writing the main themes of their musical creations. Now with releases via Proton’s Particles and Nie Wieder Schlafen, about:river makes their Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous take on ‘Flatter’. From a deeper vision, the duo draws on the sensibilities of the original, utilizing Sarah’s emotive vocals over a bed of organic breakbeats, exotic percussion and creamy pianos. Placid pads and whimsical arps emerge across the seven-minute excursion, setting the scene for a heartfelt conclusion. 

Also making his label debut and providing the final interpretation of ‘Flatter’ is GastoM. Born in Mendoza and now based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist fuses elements of organic and progressive house, along with live recordings of instruments and drums for a sound that is all his own. A recent remix of MartyOn & JörgK via label subsidiary 3rd Avenue has proved to be a discography highlight, immediately rising to the number one position in his Beatport best sellers just one month following the release. Now stepping up to parent label Sound Avenue, GastoM makes his debut on the much-loved Belgian imprint with a groovy interpretation of ‘Flatter’.

'Italian veteran Gai Barone teams up with Micah for three prime cuts showcasing everything we love about the progressive sound. Cerebral and kinetic in equal doses, this is electronic music of the highest order.

The broken beats of ‘Prisma Pt.1’ feels tempered, yet the drama is everywhere around it. The glowing staccato bass is accentuated by flowing choirs of synths and lead keys containing more emotion than an entire civilisation’s collective genetic memory. This is high concept and thoughtful dance music.

A deep, rolling synth acts as the intro for ‘Prisma Pt.2’ before entering into an inviting 4/4 rhythm. Once again, celestial choirs and atonal lead keys effortlessly glide across the drums like an ice skater. Halfway through proceedings, the deep rolling sigh synth appears again, acting as a bookmark in another very engaging story. 

The energy is turned up on ‘Valse, a driving tech-house workout that keeps things simple without ever being derivative. Punchy percussion, a bubbling, balmy bassline, and entertaining vocal samples all add up for a massive dancefloor bomb that aims straight for the main floor jugular.'

Before we shift our focus to end of year proceedings, we have one more treat for you in store. Allies for Everyone returns to ICONYC with a stunning 2 tracker, accompanied by a colossal remix from Beatfreak head honcho D-Formation. AFE who needs no introduction to the ardent listener, has been a regular on some of the world's finest labels with his progressive and melodic techno influenced driving productions. On his return he delivers 2 gorgeous originals in the form of the title track Faux Love and Through the Wall which also gets the D-Formation remix treatment.

The opening track 'Through the Wall' with its expansive synth chords generate a driving rhythm before the atmospheric pads and AFE's voice take over to create a beautiful setting. Combining the best of both worlds, Allies for Everyone has come up with something unique and distinctive to make this release extra special, while applying an extra dose of groove and warmth to this incredible tune. 'Through the Walls' stands for a fool proof and state-of-the-art piece of music, which will readily make you, take note and amaze in equal measures.

The sole remix of 'Through the Wall' comes courtesy of Beatfreak label boss D-Formation. A massive entity in his own right, he shows his experience, as the musical development is in full swing. D-Formation kicks off proceedings with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. Utilizing the hypnotizing groove, as the basis of the remix underpinned by a deep bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown, before unleashing into the rising melodic hook interwoven with the contagious groove for maximum effect.

To close out the release, Allies delivers another gem in the form of the title track 'Faux Love'. Interspersing beats filled with roomy glowing love, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement. The understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along, as AFE manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru. The many layers and textures create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser. Essential stuff from Allies for Everyone.

Allies for Everyone's return to the label is a triumphant one, as he lays down the gauntlet for an aural perception masterclass. He truly shows that there're no boundaries, as this beautiful deep melodic release will leave you with many smile induced moments! Highly recommended!
