Percussion has always played a vital role in establishing the label’s foundation of sound - nothing gets us grooving quite like drum-laden house music. TOR’s latest project, the Zaiana EP, showcases the exploits of this primordial desire. Darksidevinyl and Ucha come together to make their debut with the When We Dip label family. The two have established a sterling reputation for powerful afro-house, releasing on the likes of Connected Frontline, Deepalma, and Monaberry. 

Zaiana leads the way with an irresistible groove setting the foundation. Deep drums and a massively warm bassline kick things right into gear. Piano chords bring house influences into the fold, as an afro vocal quickly hooks the ear. Jazzy tones come to play as we enter the heart of the track, providing classic musicality during the bridge, all before diving right back into the vivacious rhythms. Sitting perfectly at the intersection of afro, jazz, funk, and house, Zaiana is sure to provide dancefloor exhalation.

Ucha has established a sterling reputation for powerful afro-house gems in recent years, releasing on the likes of Connected Frontline, Deepalma, and Milk & Sugar. His TOR debut alongside Darksidevinyl, Zaiana, has become an instant classic with its jazz-funk-infused percussive flavor. As we close out a year unlike any other, we’re thrilled to welcome the Georgian back to the imprint for his first solo outing - the Kesendirian EP.

Dripping in ominous tones and punchy synth work, Kesendirian captures a pristine balance of organic and synthetic tools. Tripped out vocals ebb & flow throughout, keeping wave lengths wandering while the live percussion gets feet moving. The A-side is brimming with afterhours vibes, as filters meander to create big builds between sections of hearty groove.

On the flip, Vol Drome oozes laid-back rhythms and irresistible flow. The classic feeling house arrangement keeps the vibe rolling from the start, as rotating hooks play tricks on the mind. It’s a low-slung groover drenched in psychedelia, the perfect tool in any selector’s bag.

'Rounding out the year 2021 we have a sensational EP from Jack Coletta. Jack has previously released on our sister label Valiant Records along with notorious Melbourne label “Recovery Collective” which has seem him develop a solid following in the scene down under.

After some back and forth with some tasty tunes we settled on Markarska and Molo. Makarska is moref emotive of the two when Jack drew inspiration from a recent trip to Croatia. A record perfect for those summer nights, windows down and the wind blowing in your face.......The percussion, keys and vocal ad-libs carry the tune throughout and is perfect for the upcoming summer season here in Australia.

On remix duties for Makarska, we have the wonderful Vanita. Hailing from Zurich, Vanita has been on our radar for a while and we are thrilled to have her on UGenius for the first time. Her signature melodic chug and raw production is one for the peak time selectors and will be certainly a staple in a few sets.

The B side 'Molo' is most definitely written with the dance floor in mind. Jack’s organic sound is gritty, forward thinking and blurs the line between genres. Hope you enjoy.'

August 16 sees Déepalma unveil the debut album of its core artist UCHA. The Georgian DJ and producer Ucha Gvinepadze aka UCHA from Tbilisi is already familiar to connoisseurs of the Deep House scene through releases on SNOE Music, Underyourskin Records or Déepalma, which is meanwhile known as his regular label.

Now his first studio album is released and it has a rather time consuming history: First, UCHA collected sound ideas and inspirations for two years. Only then he started working, drawing from this large fundus and creating an extraordinary sound design for every single song. The result is Mesmerized, an album that reflects everything that UCHA loves so much about electronic music. In a sequence of 17 multi-faceted songs UCHA shows an impressive sound spectrum, spanning youthful cheeky and summery fresh to adult, serious and melancholic atmospheres. The different genres on Mesmerized vary between Electronica, Deep House, House and Tech House, Melodic Techno and Afro House.
